American Idol Results Recap: The Top Eight Revealed

March 29, 2012 06:01 PM by Lisa Princ

Last week on FOX‘s American Idol, Haley Reinhart was back on the stage, and Erika Van Pelt was eliminated. Tonight, Scotty McCreery took the stage again, and one more hopeful was sent packing – or did the judges use their save? Read on to find out!

American Idol kicked off the results show tonight as Ryan Seacrest announced Aerosmith’s new tour, and then read off some Tweets from the stars about the performances last night. Deandre was then surprised by Eric Benet on the stage, and of course, there was the Ford music video. Next, we watched as the finalists moved into the Idol mansion, and everyone was jealous of Deandre, who ended up with the largest room.

Elise Testone, Phillip Phillips, and Hollie Cavanaugh were all up first for their results. Jimmy Iovine shared his thoughts on their performances, revealing that he thought Elise definitely deserved to move on, and that Hollie needed to work on her “soul,” while Phillip was flawless. And he was spot on as both Elise and Phillip were sent to safety, while Hollie Cavanaugh was sent to the bottom three.

Nicki Minaj hit the stage next with a fun performance of her new single Starships, before we heard more results. Joshua Ledet, Colton Dixon, and Heejun Han were all up next for their fate. Jimmy Iovine did not agree with Randy, who thought Colton was perfect last night. Jimmy was torn on Joshua, claiming that his voice shut down, but Heejun got the most criticism as Jimmy felt that Heejun does not sing as well as all of the other contestants! Colton and Joshua Ledet were both sent to safety, and Heejun Han was sent to join Hollie in the bottom three!

Next up on the American Idol results show was Scotty McCreery with a performance of his catchy new single Water Tower Town. Skylar Laine, Deandre Brackensick, and Jessica Sanchez were called up the stage next. Jimmy thought that both Skylar and Deandre were in the middle this week, but that Jessica blew it away. Both Jessica Sanchez and Deandre Brackensick were deemed safe, and it was Skylar Laine who was the final contestant in the bottom three tonight!

Ryan Seacrest then announced that both Skylar and Hollie were safe, and Heejun Han was the finalist with the lowest number of votes. Heejun decided to do the same performance he did last night, and it was good, but was it good enough for the judges to save him? Steven Tyler delivered the news that the judges would not be saving Heejun Han, and we said goodbye to him tonight! Keep an eye out for our elimination interview with Heejun Han tomorrow! See you next week.

This should have never, ever made it to “The Top Ten”, which will go on the U.S. Tour, because of its poor inflection & non-consistent vocals, and is surely “not worthy” of folks dishing out their hard earned cash to be entertain with such sub-par talent.
There were several others that were much better than this ever could pretend to be, its too bad that the judges miss that, yet again this season! Such an empty vessell this one is, and it truly showed, until it was waken up to understand the seriousness of this competition, only then, did it try to sound somewhat decent~UGH! What a true waste of a viable position in the Ameican Idol line up too!!
