Carson Daly Still Receiving Backlash For Homophobic Comment

March 30, 2012 10:40 AM by Megan Thompson

Carson Daly, host of the hit NBC show The Voice, is still receiving a lot of heat for his homophobic comment about the JetBlue flight.  Carson Daly did apologize for his ”joke”, but a mother of a gay 9/11 hero isn’t pleased with his comments.  Keep reading to find out more about this whole Carson Daly PR disaster.

Carson Daly made a “joke” about the whole JetBlue flight incident, where the pilot had a meltdown and passengers had to help restrain him. Carson made the comment, “With my luck, it would be like, this is the flight going to the {gay pride parade} in San Francisco.” In a statement on Thursday, Carson apologized for his remark and said he is a supporter of Gay and Lesbian rights.

Alice Hoagland didn’t appreciate Carson’s joke and she had a lot to say about her own heroic gay son.  Alice’s son, Mark Bingham, was a passenger on flight 93 on September 11, 2001.  Mark and his  fellow passengers worked together to take the plane back from the terrorists on 9/11.  Alice told US Magazine, “No one among his…team of fellow passengers was asking, ‘Are you straight? Are you gay?’…The world has its share of strong, heroic gay men. Gay men in sports uniforms and military uniforms have been winning America’s games and fighting America’s battles for a long time: quietly, humbly, and in the face of vicious bigotry.”

What do you think about Carson Daly’s comments?  Is the press being too hard on Carson or does he deserve all this backlash for his comment?  We know you have an opinion, so let’s hear it!

I don’t understand how people have so much time to to such great lengths to complain about these kinds of things.

We can have naked women all over tv and it is considered normal, but when a JOKE is made people act like their lives have been torn apart. It takes more energy to fight this then to just ignore it, I don’t understand…
