Dancing With The Stars Has Melissa Gilbert Emotionally Drained

March 31, 2012 12:00 PM by Shayla Perry

It’s only been two weeks, but already, Dancing With The Stars has proven to be an emotional roller-coaster for Little House on the Prairie actress Melissa Gilbert; especially her rehearsals with dance pro partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy. And though Maks is admittedly a demanding teacher, Gilbert says that it’s not his harsh critic that has her “emotionally absolutely drained” on the ABC reality competition.

“I cry when I’m happy,” Gilbert told Access Hollywood Live‘s Kit Hoover and Billy Bush on Friday’s show (March 30). “I’m just wired differently I guess.

“I’m just emotionally absolutely drained and I have no defenses at all. So, it just comes out — especially when [Maks] pays me a compliment because it’s hard-earned,” she explained.

Another thing that’s making her time on the show difficult is being away from her four sons.

“I have virtually no life at this point because we’re rehearsing or we’re here, or I’m eating or sleeping,” said Gilbert. “A lot of eating and sleeping going on. So, I’m around the kids, but not as much as I want to be.”

We’re sure that doing well in the competition week after week will make it all worth it.

I think she is doing a great job and I have been voting for her and hope she stays for awhile. She has beat some pretty bad odds in the past couple yrs and I think she is doing really well considering.
