The Celebrity Apprentice Recap: Guidebooks And Exercise Campaigns

April 01, 2012 09:00 PM by Veronica Dudo

It’s a double header tonight and a double elimination as the celebrity contestants take on two challenges on the NBC reality TV show. The men and women work in their original teams and then Donald Trump makes some changes! Regis Philbin makes a guest appearance on tonight’s The Celebrity Apprentice!

All of the contestants are working to raise money and awareness for their charities. Each celebrity contestant on season 12 of the reality TV competition is fighting to be hired as The Celebrity Apprentice. The last one standing will have the honor of delivering a $250,000 bonus check to their charity. The remaining 11 business-savvy celebrity contestants are Aubrey O’Day, Arsenio Hall, Clay Aiken, Dayana Mendoza, Debbie Gibson, Dee Snider, Lisa Lampanelli, Lou Ferrigno, Paul Teutul Sr., Penn Jillette and Teresa Giudice.

Part One:

The task this week is for both teams to create and sell New York City guidebooks.

Team Forte is made up of the women and Teresa Gudice is the Project Manager for this task. The girls hit the Big Apple to take candid shots at iconic spots. It takes them awhile to put the book together during which Lisa has a meltdown and says she’s sick of dealing with the other women on her team who only look in the mirror! Finally, the book is finished and fellow comedian, Jeff Foxworthy makes a donation.

Meanwhile, the men of Team Unanimous decide to go for a new spin on a classic. They head up to the top of the Trump Towers and take pictures with well known NYC neighborhoods behind them. This week Dee Sinder is the Project Manager. The men tackle their task, produce their guidebook, sell their books and call their celebrity friends in the hopes that they can raise a lot of money. Michael Andretti who was fired a few weeks back makes an appearance and makes a contribution of $20,000 for one book! All of the guys get substantial donations from personal friends expect Arsenio. He called his friend Jay Leno who sent a check but no one was at Arsenio’s office to sign for it so the package is sent back. The Blue Man Group shows up and Teller for Penn and Teller makes a donation.

Donald Trump meets with TV legend Regis Philbin to look at the guidebooks. Regis says that he likes how the men highlighted the neighborhoods and how the women personalized their books by going to famous spots.

The women raised $162,855 and the men raised a total $162,869 therefore the men won by $14! Dee’s charity is the March of Dimes and receives $326,000.

The men leave the boardroom and Donald asks the women who is the weakest link and again they all point the finger at Dayana. Donald asks Teresa to pick two people to stay with her and she selects Debbie Gibson and Dayana Mendoza. Dayana says she raised $50,000 and shouldn’t be in the boardroom. Donald even asks Teresa why she didn’t bring Aubrey into the boardroom and Teresa says she would like to have Aubrey on her team moving forward. Donald Trump says this task was about raising money and out of the three people sitting in-front of him Debbie Gibson raised the least amount so he fires her.

Part Two:

For their second task, both teams need to create and produce a live health segment for the drugstore, Walgreens when they introduce their new campaign “Walk with Walgreens.” The Project Manager who wins will get $50,000 for their charity.

Donald Trump mixes the teams so they will be even. Team Unanimous is made up of Aubrey, Teresa, Arsenio, Clay and Paul. The Project Manager is Arsenio but Aubrey keeps trying to take control. They decide to do a game show theme. Arsenio hosts the show and introduces the rest of his teammates and talks with them about why they like walking.

Team Forte is now made up of Lou, Lisa, Dayana, Dee and Penn. Lou volunteers to be the Project Manager. They decide to really showcase that you can do many things while walking. Lou shared a heartfelt story followed by introducing Penn who refers to the company as “Wal-Mart” then quickly catches himself but the damage is done. Dayana tries to make light of the situation and the rest of her teammates are thankful that she stepped up.

Back in the boardroom emotions explode! Arsenio says that Aubrey lies and takes credit for things the entire team comes up with. The tension continues and Arsenio lays it all on the table that Aubrey isn’t a team player! Aubrey starts to cry and Donald Trump tells her there’s no reason to cry.

The Walgreens executives like Team Unanimous’ presentation the best. Lou picks Dee and Dayana to go back into boardroom with him. Donald Trump says the executives didn’t like the box design and Dee was responsible for it so Donald fires Dee Sinder. Meanwhile Aubrey gets into the elevator after her confrontation with Arsenio and viewers are left wondering if she leaves the competition!

My wife and I have chosen not to watch the show this season due to all the drama in the news, and around the world. We think that the added drama on the show has hurt its rating, we enjoyed the shows for a long time but lately it has become way out to dramatic. Everyone probably doesnt think that way and Im sure there is an audience for this, its just not for us. Thanks!

Since the first task was all about raising the most money, Teresa should have been fired for not bringing in the person who raised the least amount of money. She said she didn’t bring in Aubrey because she felt like Aubrey had more to contribute.
I think she really didn’t bring in Aubrey because 1. She was too much of a coward to do so because she would have to face the wrath of Lisa(Let’s face it though, Aubrey is more mouth then she is “winning” ideas)
    2. She because she was trying to get Debbie Gibson back for criticizing her in a previous task.

In addition, I think Debbie Gibson has more to contribute to a CA team then Teresa as far as creativity and brain power.
