The Voice Recap: LIVE Shows Begin!

April 02, 2012 07:38 PM by Shayla Perry

Week 1 of LIVE Shows on The Voice as artists from Teams Blake and Christina compete for YOUR votes to send them through to the next phase of the NBC reality competition. Keep reading for all the highlights from tonight’s Live Round, PLUS the information you need to vote for your fave artists.

Tonight on The Voice, after a long wait, it’s finally time for the LIVE Round.

The first performance of the night is from former back-up singer, Jermaine Paul singing Bon Jovi‘s “Living on a Prayer.”

In love with his performance, but a little confused about the song choice, Christina Aguilera still thinks that Jermaine would’ve done better on her team, but Blake Shelton thinks he’s doing just fine.

Next up, Team Christina’s Chris Mann. He and Christina have decided that he’ll sing “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” and he does a great rendition, impressing all of the judges; including a noticeably um… different Cee Lo Green.

The third performance of the night is from RaeLynn, who’s doing Maroon 5‘s “Wake Up Call” (Nice!). She did such a great job that she “broke” Adam Levine‘s heart once again, and Blake thinks that RaeLynn is already repping the next generation of Country music. Does America agree?

From Country to Hip-Hop, Moses Stone is up next, hoping to show viewers the vast range of his talents with “Stronger.” Keeping it totally real, Adam tells Moses that he thinks he has a better shot in the industry as a singer as opposed to a rapper, and would like to see him doing more singing on the show, and Blake agrees that he’s come a long way vocally. Christina, however, couldn’t be more proud, and says she still believes Moses should continue to do it all.

Team Blake’s Naia Kete is out to prove herself after a shaky Battle Round performance, singing Adele‘s “Turning Tables.” Will Blake’s decision to have her stick to the original version pay-off for the Reggae singer? Christina thinks she would’ve preferred Naia’s own flavor being added to the song, noting that there were some off moments, but Blake argues that she’s more than just Reggae music and did an “awesome” job.

Lindsey Pavao of Team Christina is next singing “Somebody I Used to Know.” Adam thinks that the chorus could’ve used more “power,” but Christina is so thrilled with her talent, she’s ready to go out and buy one of Lindsey’s albums NOW!

Also trying to redeem herself after a so-so Battle Round is Team Blake’s Jordis Unga performing Heart‘s “Alone” (one of Blake’s favorites), and after watching her rock it out, Shelton is beaming with pride.

Sera Hill is next singing Drake‘s “Find Your Love.” Having a hard time getting past the male strippers on stage, Blake says that he enjoyed the performance, and Christina agrees that Sera looked like a pro — even with all the shirtless men serving as distractions.

It’s her first performance since her father’s death, and Team Blake’s Erin Willett is doing Stevie Wonder‘s “Living For The City.” According to Shelton, Erin delivers the best performance of the night

Team Christina’s Ashley De La Rosa is coming to the stage next singing “Right Through It.” After a powerful performance, Adam says that she’s definitely the “most improved” out of everyone in the competition, and MIRACULOUSLY, Christina agrees with him.

The final artist from Team Blake taking the stage tonight is Charlotte Sometimes, singing “Misery Business.” Though Adam thinks there were some pitchy moments, Christina and Blake disagree (it didn’t last long, did it), and are blown away by Charlotte’s talent. How far will she make it?

Ending the first night of LIVE performances is frontrunner Jesse Campbell, doing a rendition of “What A Wonderful World.” Cee Lo says that if someone from his team doesn’t one, he’s definitely pullin’ for Jesse, and Adam admits that Jesse is the man to beat. Does he have your vote?
