Congratulations are in order for American Idol‘s Ryan Seacrest! No…still no word on the rumors that he’s going to replace Today Show host Matt Lauer, but the two did use the buzz to toy with our emotions when announcing some other big news for the FOX reality star. As it turns out, Seacrest will be coming to NBC, and his first gig with the network — covering the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
“I’ve worked with the E! network for years, and NBCUniversal and E! are in the same family,” Ryan Seacrest told Matt Lauer during an appearance on The Today Show. “The plan is for me to join the NBC family and continue to have a role at the E! network. The first assignment will be to join the prime time team for the Olympics on NBC.”
Not completely ignoring the talk that NBC wants Seacrest to replace Lauer when his Today contract is up, the two joked, with Ryan asking, “Oh, they didn’t tell you?” before adding, “I see you doing this for as long as you want to, so maybe the question is, how long will you be on The Today Show?”
So is that kind of like a confirmation?
Oh well. It’s not as though Ryan Seacrest is really in need of another job right now.
