Million Dollar Listing New York Recap: A Broker, A Marriage Counselor, And A Bully

April 11, 2012 08:35 PM by Lisa Princ

Last week on Bravo‘s Million Dollar Listing New York, Ryan Serhant was getting busy with the ladies, while Michael Lorber and Fredrik Eklund were getting busy with a co-listing. This week, things take a turn for the worse as Michael reveals his true feelings, and Ryan gets a lesson in married life! Read on for all the highlights.

Million Dollar Listing New York kicked off tonight with a big decision by Michael Lorber: he was done being bullied by Fredrik. We watched comically as Fredrik was called to meet Michael for lunch, and as Michael expressed his feelings, Fredrik did nothing poke more fun at him for revealing his true feelings. While Fredrik accused Michael of being childish, Michael was done with Fredrik and walked off the listing, leaving it solely to Fredrik. Michael decided to start fresh with a new listing in Chelsea.

Fredrik was then approached by his client for the 949 Park listing – apparently, he got wind that Michael walked off and was not too thrilled that no offers had even come in yet. Why does Fredrik always take on the clients who make him sweat? Under the pressure to sell the place, Fredrik assured his client that he will have an offer soon, and then Fredrik went into his typical shark mode.

Fredrik landed a private showing on the place, but there was one huge problem from the potential buyers: the huge windows! The windows made them feel like they “were in a fishbowl,” but Fredrik tried to cover up that fact assuring them that he would resolve that issue with the shades. Days later, Fredrik meets up with the buyer’s broker, and he laughs her off when she hands him a low number. Fredrik knows he is under some extreme pressure from his client, and demands that the number be higher – nothing like sweet talk, eh?

The broker does not find it funny and calls Fredrik “an ass,” but they manage to work out a number…until the buyers change their minds about the windows, again! Luckily, Fredrik and the other broker are able to put the windows to the test, and prove that you cannot see inside from the street. After all his “hard” work, it lands another done deal for Fredrik.

Meanwhile, poor Ryan Serhant had his hands full tonight on Million Dollar Listing New York with what he thought was going to be an easy sell. Ryan got a call from a couple looking to relocate with their 2 kids from Florida to Manhattan. Nick gives Ryan an idea of what the family would like, and plans to meet Ryan the next day. When Nick and his wife arrive, Ryan has the perfect place for them – or so he thought! Nick did not like anything about the apartment, despite his wife’s love of it. It was way too “old” feeling with the antique furniture.

On to apartment number two, and then three, and there was still no deal. This couple proved to be a nightmare for Ryan, who spent the entire time acting as more of a marriage counselor than a broker. Would this couple ever be able to compromise? We’ll have to wait to see what happens next week as all three apartments that Ryan showed them were failures, but on a positive note, we got the chance to watch Ryan feed his new pet snake a dead mouse – definitely the highlight of Ryan’s night..well, maybe not for him!

I think Ryan & Fredrik are 2 of the sleeziest people in the real estate business. And Michael just seems like a little boy playing with the big boys. I wouldn’t want any of these people as my real estate agent.

There’s a big difference between them and the agents on the HGTV show Selling New York.

I like Michael Lorber less and less each episode. He has zero personality. He’s clearly very uncomfortable around people and doesn’t seem to know what to talk about. The whole scene in the cupcakery was painful to watch. It’s no wonder he’s single.
