American Idol Results Recap: Shocking Results Tonight!

April 12, 2012 06:01 PM by Lisa Princ

Last night on FOX‘s American Idol, the remaining finalists impressed the judges with performances of current songs. Tonight, it was time to find out who won your votes! Was your favorite sent packing? Read on for all the highlights!

American Idol was back tonight with the results of your votes, but first it was a performance of Pink’s Raise Your Glass by the top seven, which did not seem very impressive by some. After the Ford music video, which was corny, both Hollie Cavanaugh and Colton Dixon received fan mail with prom invitations! Hollie and Jessica were the first up to hear their fate, and Jimmy thought that Hollie was dry and stiff, but Jessica killed it. Ryan Seacrest then sent Jessica Sanchez to one side of the stage and Hollie Cavanaugh to the other – am I the only one who hates when he does that?

James Durbin, our favorite rocker from last season was back tonight with a performance of Higher Than Heaven off his new album, and in my opinion, James sounded nothing like the same guy from last season. Elise Testone and Phillip Phillips were up next to hear their fate, and Ryan placed Elise in Jessica’s group, and Phillip in Hollie’s group, and immediately I knew exactly where this was going.

Another Idol alum, Jennifer Hudson then took the stage with Ne-Yo and Rick Ross perform their new single, Think Like a Man. Colton Dixon and Joshua Ledet were up next, and of course, Jimmy Iovine thought Joshua nailed it – do I even have to tell you which group that Colton ended up in? Yep, not surprisingly, Joshua ended up up with Jessica and Elise.

Skylar Laine was all alone until Ryan announced that she was safe, and then asked her to choose which group she belonged with. As all the contestants normally do, Skylar refused, but then Ryan walked her over to Colton, Hollie, and Phillip! America got it wrong this week? At this point, we were certain the judges would use their save tonight.

Joshua Ledet was safe, and then Ryan announced that Elise Testone was also safe! In a shocker reminiscent of Pia Toscano last season, it was Jessica Sanchez who was the bottom contestant tonight. Jessica did not even get a chance to finish her song before Jennifer Lopez jumped on stage and shouted that the judges would be using their save tonight. Randy backed her up: “we are saving Jessica tonight without a doubt,” and he then begged America to please start voting for the best.

The american idol judges should be judging not america….Jessica is the best singer ever …Idol should be taken off the air if she looses!

This is phoney. It’s fixed for ratings.. why do you think that Seacrest spilled the beans via twitter way early to day and TMZ had the dope hours ago.. this is a ratings ploy.. WTF… we all know that AI is predetermined , so why try to fool the public.. when Reinhart got skewered by them last season it bacame so obvious.. Yikes how phoney..

Steven Tyler knew it was Jessica! He said before the results were announced that they would be using their save tonight. There is no way they would have used it for Elise so he had to have known it was her! I agree that they have babied Jessica the entire show and tonight capped it off going up on stage to beg america to vote for her. She is a sweet girl and very talented but it should be up to the viewers.

As Randy Jackson said, Jessica Sanchez is one of the best singers in America. Her being at the bottom is ridiculous! Who is to blame? People like me who did not take the time to vote because I thought she is solid rock in this competition. So there it goes, everybody, make sure you vote next week for Jessica – she deserves to win this AI season!

Judges of American Idol, “you” have chosen the format for the show, giving control over the choice of an “American Idol.” Now you guys (Randy and Steven) want not only to change the format but criticize the audience for doing their job. Sure you guys are successful music “people,” but you don’t necessarily know what all the people want in music; obviously, by your reaction, last night, you were misinformed as to what you do know.

American Idol has become the biggest joke on television.

Last night show was surely scripted. I don’t believe Ms. Sanchez, the best singer in the group, was the lowest vote getter and it is clear to me that the judges rushing on stage to stop her from singing was all gone over before the show.

Let’s see, what new thing will they come up with next week. I know I won’t be watching!

Lisa….Sent Shayla a note as well….Those of us in the music business who keep up with “Idol” always watch season to season when one or more of the more talented vocalists gets “dumped” from the program way too early. This must have to do with the fact many of the female singers meet their fate way before the finale, due to the type of call in voters “Idol” reaches out to…Our hope is that, with the national exposure these performers receive, each of the talented ones will receive a recording contract despite getting voted out early, i.e., Jennifer Hudson, Chris Daughtry, Pia Toscano, etc…..And….as has happened in prior seasons, winning or coming in second on “Idol” does not mean top record sales, nor tour income…..at times the most successful artists are the ones who leave “Idol” early.

I think the judges already have their minds made up who is going to be in the finale. Jessica and Joshua. How bias can you be.All they do is put Hollie down shame on them!! This show has really gone down the tubes.Bring Simon and Paula back.At least the show had class back then. They don’t even give credit to a girl who can sing her butt off!!!

The producers got it wrong. Not the voters. They might fool some teenagers with this ploy but they don’t fool me. Everybody knows that Joshua and Jessica would never BOTH be in the bottom 3. They reversed the vote scale to make sure the judges used their one save this week. If they had waited for next week to save, they would make two drops the following week leaving only 4 contestants. If you recall the top FIVE are the ones who get a car. The math does not work out unless they used the save THIS WEEK. Now we will see Holly and Phillip go next week and the remaining five will all get a new Ford….as planned. This little ploy also confirms my suspicion that it’s all rigged. The votes don’t matter.

I agree with Avis. They put Jessica at the bottom in order to justify the “save”, which she undoubtedly deserved. No one would question that, surely. She is the best singer ever. Pia Toscano is not a good singer — she just reaches the high notes, but has no style. Jessica is way above her. As for the rest, they all can sing in their own way: Phillip and Elise can sing two songs, but afterwards would become boring. Skylar needs a stylist — those big, big earrings and her clothes should be banned from Idol. Hollie has a sweet, nice and melodious voice, but has a problem getting just the right pitch.
