American Idol: Was Jessica Sanchez’s Save Planned Before The Show?

April 13, 2012 08:54 AM by Shayla Perry

It was a dramatic Results Show on American Idol last night, as Jennifer Lopez bum-rushed the stage to announce that the judges would be using their one and only save for frontrunner Jessica Sanchez, before she even finished singing. But was the whole thing planned?

Insiders tell TMZ that before last night’s Results Show aired on FOX, producers were scrambling to let the judges know that they needed to use their “save.”

It’s not clear whether or not the judges were told that the Idol hopeful facing elimination was Jessica Sanchez, but according to the website, the producers had Sanchez favored to win and were as shocked at the results of America’s votes as they were when Jennifer Hudson was infamously given the boot years ago.

We know that there’s a lot that goes into the production of a reality competition, but is it really a competition if producers are so instrumental in the outcome?

What do you think RTVM: Was Jessica Sanchez’s overly dramatic save planned before the show? Should the show’s producers have any input at all on when the judges use their saves? Do you think the judges would have saved Jessica Sanchez regardless? Enough questions for ya?

You must realize country music has some of the most loyal fans, and they only like country music. go Skylar
With only one country music contestant she could win.

Of course the judges would have saved Jessica. Why do you think they hadn’t used their save yet? Yes, so they could use it when they really needed it! I do think it’s a little lame of the producers that they didn’t trust that the judges judgment in this case. However, they got excited and couldn’t help themselves.
Jessica ‘should’ be one of the top 2 or 3 – I hope!
That is, if it were all up to me!

Was this just another way to get America to vote? Ryan did not say how many votes came in. It looked as if the whole thing was staged. There is no way the bottom 3 were actually the bottom 3. Maybe the producers did this just to shake up the show a little. Who knows……..it’s reality TV.

Who does Randy think he is admonishing America for the way it voted. It’s a popularity contest, what do you expect. For Randy to grab the microphone and talk down to America for the way it voted is a disgrace. I think we all should vote Randy off the show!

The whole show has turned into a circus. Almost all the judges responses and this thing last night was a COMPLETE plan. I even believe that Jessica probably got the most votes to continue on, but the producers needed her to be put at the bottom (least votes — was a complete lie) so they could come up with the this GREAT display of the save. If you check out the photo of the judges and Seacrest(sp?) looking at her, what a fake look even they are showing.

This is one of the reasons why I despise shows like American Idol. Its popularity voting instead of judging and endorsing the “real” good performer/s.

It’s very entertaining but does not deliver justice!

It does make one wonder, think about it? none of judges favor counrty…never have! is’nt funny how many country singers have been successful after Idol, name one none country Idol who has more sales than Carrie or Kelly! It seems that the Rockers go over board and lose their base

Really??? Well if she didn’t get the votes this week then what will happen next week if she doesn’t get the votes??? They have used their only save!!!!Judges should not have favorites–not as much as they have been indicating—tell us she is the best singer today!!! Wow what an opinion!

those judges are rediculous,it made the other contestants look like they need not bother competing anymore ,can you imagine how they felt after all the comments on jessica also why vote if they critize our voting they have gone too far, jessica is good but not that good, time to just watch the voice

Incredible. The only reason I watch idol this season is for jessica’s performances – she goes – i won’t watch again this year

I really felt the evening was very badly handled. There were 6 other young people who have been working just as hard to win this and they act like Jessica has won it already. If they are going to let the public vote then they should abide by what the public chooses. I have watched Idol since it started snd I felt the judges made fools of themselves. Shame on them they totally ignored the other contestants, it was like they were not even there.

I commend the American Idol Judges as well as the American Idol Producers for saving Jessica Sanchez. It is not important whether the Producers and the Judges conferred on saving Jessica. What is important is that an incredibly talented contestant of Asian and Mexican roots has been allowed to compete further, proving once more that DISCRIMINATION should never prevail…

The idol judges want to tell America who they have to vote for. I know they are so in love with the truly awesome voices of Josh and Jessica, but frankly their beautiful voices do not reach my soul. My favorites are Colton and Alesh because they reach right into my heart. I would enjoy their albums more than a album of huge over-the-top singing. That is an opinion that I can have,Randy ,about singing- not who is the technical best, but my favorite.

I’ve read so many possible theories behind that “IDOL SHOCKER”. The pattern of the elimination process – there is contentment on the judges’ part that is why their “save” option was not yet used. With one contestant disqualified, the show would be one week short. with the 2 most popular, the best being at the bottom with Jessica even breaking idol’s youtube hits, i think i would like to agree with others saying it was well staged and scripted.

Do you honestly think anyone would have let Hollie be safe & send Jessica home? That is the reason they gave the judges this power in the first place….to prevent the loss of a Jennifer Hudson before her time. I don’t think anyone needed to ‘tell’ the judges to use the save…anyone with ears would have used the save! (and Btw, I’m more of a Philip, Elise, Colton Singer/songwriter fan myself)

All of America Knew that “the save” would be used for either Philip or Jessica. Hence the lack of votes for Jess. She or Philip should win and I think everybody knows that. I love Elise, and Skylar rocks. Im so glad they saved Jessica, she should be there for sure!!!
