Lamar Odom Draws Pay Criticism

April 13, 2012 09:00 AM by Amanda Christensen

Khloe Kardashian has been worried about her husband’s happiness since Lamar Odom was traded from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Dallas Mavericks. Then again things got even more complicated when Lamar Odom was recently placed on the Mavericks inactive list. Now the couple is facing even more difficulties because Lamar Odom is being criticized for being paid by the championship Dallas Mavericks while he is on the inactive list. Who is at the root of this current criticism?

NBA legend and commentator, Charles Barkley, is making his feelings public. He states that Khloe Kardashian’s husband, Lamar Odom, hasn’t gotten over his “divorce” from the Lakers and that had a direct affect on his dismal season with the Dallas Mavericks. Barkley is announcing that the Dallas Mavericks shouldn’t be obligated to pay Odom because his performance with the team doesn’t demonstrate his worthiness of the salary.

The Mavericks decided to place Odom on the inactive list last Sunday after disputes between Odom and the Mavericks came to a head. Some of those disputes were about Odom’s performance, his tardiness to games and practices, and finally a confrontation between Lamar Odom and Dall Mavericks owner Mark Cuban. Some have questions Mark Cuban on if he intends to fight his obligation to pay Lamar Odom for the remainder of the season and Cuban states he doesn’t intend to fight the payment to Lamar Odom.

Khloe Kardashian has stood by her husband throughout this trading ordeal and says that won’t change, and no one would expect it to. Hopefully this latest criticism will make Lamar and stronger person.

Do other players on the inactive list receive a salary? If so, then so should Lamar. Charles Barkley can just mind his own business! Just because Lamar has a celebrity wife doesnt mean he should be treated unfairly. He should get the same treatment as the other team players. If they get paid, he should get paid and not have to apologize for it.

We know who Lamar Odom is and it seems awfully demeaning of Barkley to refer to him as “Khloe Kardashian’s husband…”

    Lamar,

standing up to Mark Cuban is something that should have been done a long time ago. Not everyone has the “field hand” mentality. Kudos. As for it not working, that’s life. You go on. As for him not wanting to pay per the contract; do not let him get away with it. He decided to put you on inactive. He knows the terms of the contract. Let him fry you in the press as long as the checks keep clearing. Get yourself some good legal representation NOT FROM DALLAS, TEXAS. It’s easy for Charles Barkley to talk sitting behind a desk instead of bouncing a ball in the paint. . . How would he react if the network paid him commensurate with his lackluster performance behind the microphone and see how he would feel. It’s sad to see ex-sports figures make idiots of themselves just to get a little press. Keep your head up Lamar.

Anyone that saw his reaction to leaving the Lakers should know that he is not ready to play on another team. That was so sad.
Why have we not heard why the Lakers released him in the first place?

The Dallas Mavericks should not have to pay Lamar Odom especially since Odom stated on his reality television show that he didn’t want to be in Dallas. There is no excuse for showing up late to games and practices. Lamar Odom should not be paid. He needs to hit the pavement and find another position just like everybody else.

If the contract is not over they should keep on paying him, it depends with the contract they have agreed on. Lamar did not Terminate the contract it is the management who did so, so Lamar has every right to get his dues from the club.
