‘The Voice’ Fans Petition To Have Jesse Campbell Reinstated On Show

April 18, 2012 08:00 AM by Shayla Perry

First American Idol, now The Voice…. What’s a fan to do when your favorite reality show goes rogue and changes the rules on you? From “saves” to “instant eliminations,” viewers are getting fed up with the powers that be and their influence over competitions that networks like FOX and NBC say are decided by America’s votes. Still steaming over the elimination of frontrunner Jesse Campbell, loyal former viewers of The Voice are taking to the web, hoping to have their voices heard by petitioning for the producers to bring him back on the show. What’s their argument?

“Despite positioning the show after the Battle Rounds as a show to be voted on by the ‘voting public,’ the switch to an ‘instant elimination’ in Monday’s show format came as a shock that was likely to serve executive producers, the judges — but certainly not loyal viewers,” the Change.org petition reads, with one of the 1,000+ people singing adding that Jesse Campbell should get another chance “because America would never have eliminated him tonight! If ever!”

Maybe they can have Randy Jackson help out in their effort by giving Christina Aguilera one of his “vote for the best” lectures!

In defense of the show (someone has to do it), yes, viewers are given the opportunity to vote, but it’s all about the artist that the coach wants to have competing for them in the finale, unlike Idol.

Though it’s unlikely that NBC will allow him to come back into the competition at this point (and less likely that Jesse would even want to), we wouldn’t be surprised if the fan fave returns to perform in the show’s finale on May 8th. Fingers crossed!

    I’m NOT a typical tv guy person…
Im not into reality show or any shows my tv produce as I love my macbook, windws, tablets, smartphones to tweak or play with when im not working.
But 1 day a friend of mine told me to check THE VOICE and watch JESSE CAMPBELL, ill be honest after the 1st audition – EVERY MONDAY im in my home theater to watch it as we have 80 inches 240hz 1080p with full 7.1 DTS surround sound.
He’s voice is versatile and soothing and make me feel better after 10 hours of work.
So eliminating him from THE VOICE is stupid…

It appears that predjudice still exists.

I believe that Christistina voted off the best singer on her team (Jesse Campbell). Whats wrong with her ears? Is it something personal? Last night she voted to keep a person that was tearful and did not finish her song or do well. Did she vote to keep her because she cried?

Isn’ this show about the VOICE (talent) not personal feelings?

I totally think that Jesse should be allowed to come back to the show. I know Christina is an excellent performer but her judgement is lacking this year. She said she is seeing more growth in the other singers but Jesse doesnt need the growth he is already there!!!! Why have a show for the viewers to vote on if the judges are going to send home the top runners so one they would rather see make it can win. You shouldnt even have viewers vote if the judges can just knock out the top voters!!

Jesse Campbell is an amazing talent and should never have been sent home by Christina. It seems as though the rules were deliberated changed to manipulate the outcome of Jesse being saved by America’s votes. Instead, it gave Christina the power to sacrifice Jesse (the most talent one of her group)for contestants who were far less talented. Anytime judges are permitted to exercise such obvious unfair behavior, it cause the public to lose faith in the judging system as a whole. In fact, save the millions of dollars you are paying the judges and just let the public choose the winners for future shows.

Cheap & cruel publicity stunt at the expense of the most talented & deserving voice. Well Christina…u got the world’s attention….to how low u are.

Christina’s decision to eliminate Jesse Campbell was definitely one that showed lack of judgement and poor decision making ability, especially when we consider that the show is called “The Voice”. He definitely has a great voice and is an amazing talent. Is the show about who has the best voice or not? I never watched the show before this season and after this display, I am sure I will never watch again. DWTS is what I will watch from now on. I totally agree with Pat Turner’s comment.

i love christina and i was totally cheering for her team. but between geoff, sera, and jesse she let go of all her winners! besides chris, she has no chance. i used to love lindsey more than i do now. jesse was the best in the whole competition and my favorite too! but i am proud of how she trusts her instincts and won’t let us bring her down. :) i <3 xtina, but this was a mistake. i was like "you know you can't change it, right?!" but i'm still cheering for chris. :)

Jesse was one bad decision, but keeping a singer who is flat to the point of real annoyance is just stupid. She gets a breathy tone by never supporting, and flatness follows. de la Rosa is by far the better singer, and the opera guy has no sincerity or connection to the lyrics. In one night, Ms. Aguilera made the show unwatchable for me. No doubt, she is a survivor and knows how to win, but if it’s a show about the voice the best singers should stay, and non-singeres go home.

I will admit that I had never watched The Voice before until the show that Jesse Campbell was eliminated, but his performance was easily the best of the night. It gave me chills. My friends parents have been watching the show all season and they told me they were shocked and utterly disappointed that they eliminated the best performer.

This is the first and last year I will watch The Voice. Christina destroyed the credibility of the show out of sheer need to be the only star. Nice job and so long!

Come on people! Jesse sucked major balls! Plus he’s as old as the Pacific ocean. Nobody would buy shit from him. Check his iTunes sales for example. Plus this whole corny shit with his daughter was a pathetic strategy, I give a shit about her being his Halo. And him killing that song, squeaking for 2 minutes – is that what you all call SINGING?

  12. Janet Says:
    April 19th, 2012 at 4:20 pm

Christina has too much ego for her to have changed the rules for her own bidding. It’s been quoted by Carson that she wants singers she wants to continue to work with. If that’s the case she needs to not be on the show and try to get her own. I think she needs to be replaces. She’s okay during the blind auditions but has too much of a chip on her shoulder during the live shows. Too much of a diva.

  13. Janette Says:
    April 19th, 2012 at 4:36 pm

Everyone was appauld by the decision to eliminate Jesse Campbell because noone is deaf to “The Voice”. ‘The heart is deceitful and desperately wicked. No man can know it.’ …wonder what’s in Christina’s?

  14. Susie Says:
    April 19th, 2012 at 7:27 pm

I am shocked that Christina eliminated her best chance at winning the competition. Jesse consistently performed with amazing talent and sincerity. I believed him when he sang in every performance. I wish him the best and I will look forward to buy his music in the near future, no matter who wins this competition.

  15. Anna P Says:
    April 20th, 2012 at 8:05 am

It makes no sense whatsoever that Christina eliminated someone with the greatest talent on the show. I know she could tell how talented he was because she has studied singing and can hear after the first few bars how much skill and ability someone has– like me. After a lot of voice study, you can just hear a good voice. There’s nothing wrong with Christina’s ears just her humility. I think she’s forgotten what it’s like to have only your talent and have your whole life dependent on someone else. Christina became so rich and famous at such a young age that she is completely and utterly out of touch without an ounce of humility. I will never forgive her for this. I am no longer a fan. She has disrespected music by eliminating the greatest talent the show had to offer and she has soiled the holiness of singing for me. She is simply evil.

  16. Glenda Says:

When you get rid of the best singer before the public can vote, you also lose viewers. Just lost one!!!! Bye Bye Voice and Christina!!!

Major mistake using your ‘gut’ and abusing your power for whatever reason.
‘gut’ tells me that you’ll lose a lot of love real soon.
Congrats on winning the support of weirdos like Tom
Congrats on changing the rules NBC. Obviously you wanted more people to watch American Idol.

I never watched this show until I heard Jesse sing on that first show. I was hooked after that. Ms. Christina can sing, but I believe she was jealous of Jesse’s talent. She is willing to lose in order to stay in the limelight. Well, I hope you enjoy your “team”
I’ve deleted all the shows from my DVR and won’t watch the how again.
    Thanks for the memories

I was very disappointed. This ridicuous elimination just proved that this show is not crediable, nor about talent. Former The Voice watcher, and Xtina supporter. The elimination of Jesse Campbell was a HUGE FAIL.

NO LONGER WATCHING THIS SHOW. MAY AS WELL WATCH MORE BS LIKE THE KARDASHIANS.

Christina, Jesse has the voice of an angel. I see you do not want a winner to come from your team. I hope NBC would take that power back from the judges. It goes to say, it is not what you know or how talented you are, but who you hold dear to your heart and surely Jesse was not near yours. Why work on building and wishing to build talent when you had the greatest voice right in front of your face Christina. From your comments it appears that you wanted singers who needed your vocal coaching and artist development skills. Because Jesse is already great you could not benefit from having credit of building his skill level if he was to win this competition. That was not fair to Jesse nor his daughter and most of all it take away from the true essence of the show. Now I know you are trying to build your other contestants to the level of Jesse. It will not happen!!! If any one of your final contestants win this competition, then we know for sure that a fix was in place. I love the show regardless and still love you Christina. THE VOICE #1

Christina may have the voice of an angel but she’s got the mind of a scarecrow. This was one of the dumbest and most biased decisions I have ever seen, and I’ve been watching Paula on Idol and the XFactor for years. I also love the story music blogger Davido LegEagle did on the Jesse Campbell story at http://www.thejukeboxhero.com. Hilarious!

Best singers should no be in Christina’s team. She can just dump you just like that. Jesse has a great voice. I lost my enthusiasm to watch this show. I don’t believe anymore. She is too arrogant and self-centered. Her crying of the Lindsey song is weird, I think she feels guilty of getting rid of Jesse.

What in the world was wrong with Xtina?????????? Had already punched in the numbers to vote for Jesse when she put out that stupid remark about growth. I love Jesse Campbell and I seriously thought he was going to win the whole thing and should have. Xtina puts out a lot of tweets/facebook remarks all about herself and her outfits. Yes, Xtina is self-centered.

    Well,
My Wife and I were ECSTATIC the first season . . We even think we were the FIRST ones in line to attend the Voice Tour in Ct. We had FRONT ROW SEATING, and DID opt to meet the final 8 backstage!!!!
That was last season. I/We are TRULY disappointed to think everything we are hearing is true. This has become (for some coaches xtina) all about them and NOT the true “voice” Sure everyone has opinions and favorites, BUT that aside, it is SUPPOSE to be about true upcoming talent, not “promoting” the judges. We have cancelled our plans to follow the tour this season, and QUITE possibly Not even finish watching

    OUTRAGEOUSLY DISAPPOINTED! ! ! !

The Voice must not be based on the voice,

Can’t believe how the decision to eliminate Jesse Campbell from this show could make sense to anyone. I personally won’t ever watch it again and know others feel the same. For what reason, to watch talented people be eliminated so we can listen to others who can barely carry a tone. Hollywood has once again failed to recognize that American really does appreciate true talent.Part of me believes he is too talented for this show. I’ve seen him perform in person and have a feeling being too good sometimes causes problems . . . there really wasn’t a contest if he would have been allowed to stay. Oh now I get it!

I honestly don’t think we will see many future singers get too excited about joining her team, and I certainly don’t think we will see very many people of color being on her team. That was an unexplainable move she made to eliminate Jessie Campbell, and for one of the posters to bring age into this is just plain ignorant and superficial. You’d have to be beyond tone deaf to not recognize that Jessie Campbell had a great voice.

Personally I thought Jessie Campbell was so good that the judge’s(Adam,Blake,Ce-Lo, and CRAZY…. I mean Christina) thought so too and decided this guy is wasting his time and needs to go straight to the head of the class. I hope someone saw this man’s enormous talent and scooped him up and away from the Voice. After all…Christina turned out to be the biggest LIAR of season two. Christina, what happened to ‘if you pick me to be your coach..I will fight for you’? Christina you are plain and simple low down and dirty. I vote replace Christina with a new judge and let Jessie Campbell come back for a new season. Christina you screwed up…BIGGG TIMEEE!!!!!!!

I just read the last comment about how young people want go see old singer, but people who like real singing will and he will get a sell-out concert.
I don’t blame Christina because I know she really didn’t want to do what she did it had to be something else or they will let him come back for another term next year.

Christina is a white feminist who has tendencies to lynch black males. She is highly inconsistent vacillating between being mean, jealousy, vindictive, sulky and self centred attentin seeking behaviour! You choose her as a coach at your own peril especially if you are black!! Jesse Campbell was set to win the competetion and she made sure he had to go! He was too good for her.

Well I think she is ok for an aging pop starlet-if we are going to go with credibilty and such..
I was /am a performer/ did have the balls to continue, am bitter and when I heard this man sing..wow..She and the flawed format some dude in Hollywood has implemented really shows us how lacking in actual insight the powers that be really are.
He was THE BEST I know these things. She has gone a long way to ruin this artists chances at aquiring some better material and someone wake up with the resouces and get this man a deal / may be Jay Z or Chris Martin could help.

In Australia the Jesse Campbell elimination has just finished airing.I am not interested anymore in the fate of the remaining artists
If I was to choose I would never go on that team thats for sure.

The Voice US currently airing in Australia lost it’s sparkle for me yesterday when Jesse was eliminated. Was the controversy created by Christina worth Jesse losing his chance of having a record deal? Absolutely not. Christina forgot her job was to encourage the best talent not create publicity to bolster her fragile ego which was threatened by Jesse’s talent and popularity. I’m not interested in watching another series of The Voice US unless the judges acknowledge the best voices on their teams.

  36. Cate Says:

Also like to add, talent speaks for itself, you don’t need to inject controversy into shows like The Voice to increase interest. When did being two-faced and making put-down comments become fashionable over showing respect and nurturing great talent? Bring back wholesome feel good tv programs and leave the money grabbing ratings ploys completely out of it.
