Last night, on FOX‘s American Idol, Dick Clark was honored, and the contestants tackled songs from “then and now.” After Jessica Sanchez was saved by the judges last week, at least one of the top seven would be eliminated this week. Did you make sure to vote last night? Read on to find out who was sent packing!
“The talent level this season on American Idol is higher than any other show on television,” Randy Jackson bragged last night, and they made sure to replay it again tonight – can you say slap in the face to The Voice? Personally, I have not seen The Voice this season, but I do agree that Idol has some awesome talent this season. Apparently, the fans were not about to take any chances this week, as Ryan Seacrest revealed that there were 53 million votes last night!
After a delightful performance of Dancing In The Streets by the top seven, Ryan called up Joshua Ledet and Hollie Cavanaugh to the stage. Joshua looked very upset as Ryan tried to fool him into thinking he was in the bottom three, but he wasn’t, Hollie Cavanaugh was. Jimmy Iovine has pretty much predicted that Joshua will be in the finale, but he was certain that Hollie would need a lot more work to get there – in other words, she won’t be around much longer.
Insert the most boring American Idol winner ever, I mean, Taylor Hicks, who was in the audience to announce the next act: season eight winner Kris Allen. I was pleasantly surprised by Kris Allen’s new tune Vision of Love, and honestly, with the song giving an anti-bullying message, we can’t knock it. Still trying to figure out how he won season eight though, over Adam Lambert and Danny Gokey.
Fiery Skylar Laine and self-absorbed Elise Testone were up next for their fate. Jimmy Iovine feels that Elise is in trouble this week, but that Skylar gets better every week. Elise then runs her mouth about how she can “take the judges criticism” better than the younger contestants – good luck with that Elise and welcome to the bottom three. Skylar Laine, on the other hand in sent off to safety.
Awe, then we got another tribute to the late and great Dick Clark, we are going to miss him! And from heartwarming, things went to crazy as LMFAO took the stage. Performing Sorry For Party Rocking, the stage was full of some unique, colorful costumes, and it looked a bit crazy at times. OMG, is this what our kids are listening to these days? Yikes!
So, who ended up in the bottom three with Hollie and Elise? Colton Dixon, Jessica Sanchez, and Phillip Phillips were up called up finally, and would it be an all girl bottom three? Nope, Jessica Sanchez fans made sure that she was safe this week! Phillip Phillips was safe, and Colton Dixon was in the bottom three, but then Ryan revealed that Elise Testone was also safe – ugh!
As Hollie Cavanaugh and Colton Dixon nervously waited the final results, they both looked heartbroken. Ryan Seacrest then announced that Colton Dixon would be heading home this week, bummer. Best of luck to Colton Dixon, we will miss you!
