Last week on ABC‘s Dancing With The Stars, popular singer, Gavin DeGraw was eliminated from contention after Latin night and the first Dance Duel. This week, the remaining celebrities and their partners will dance to Motown hits. Smokey Robinson, Martha Reeves, and The Temptations perform live. Keep reading for highlights…
Gladys Knight and Tristan MacManus perform a rumba to My Girl by The Temptations this week on Dancing With The Stars. Tristan gets a little schooling in Motown moves from a man Gladys calls ‘the original Pip’, Bubba. Gladys looks lean and elegant in her purple costume and is clearly enjoying herself with the fluid dance. Tristan looks creepy as a nerd in a purple suit! Yeck! The judges notice her charisma and star quality, saying it’s her week. Gladys tells Brooke Burke Charvet it’s home week for her. All three judges give ’7′s for ‘21‘ in total.
Maria Menounos and Derek Hough did a hot salsa last week. This week it’s the foxtrot, which finds Maria struggling to be ‘classy’ in practice. Live, Maria looks gorgeous in her sparkly dress, but seems on the verge of laughter a couple of times as they dance. Maybe it’s the quirky little bunny hops they do throughout! Carrie Ann and Bruno take opposing views on how great it was, but Len, who seems to have taken his happy pill, raves about it. The judges give them ‘26‘ points.
Roshon Fegan and Chelsea Hightower are doing a rumba to a Smokey Robinson song. As Chelsea wants it to be sensual, young Roshon must once again dig deep to find his inner ‘man’. He totally pulls it off! It’s smokin’ sexy and sultry! The judges earn loud ‘boos’ by criticizing the technique – basically saying the moves were too pronounced for the rumba. They earn a total of ‘23‘.
Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas have selected a samba for tonight on Dancing With The Stars. Katherine looks fabulous in a little gold number and beehive hairstyle! Their dance is fun and flirty – Katherine”s like a go-go dancer! Len calls her the midwife – she keeps delivering! They get two ’10′s and a ’9′ for a total of ‘29‘!
Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd will be tackling the foxtrot tonight. Donald’s excited about the Motown theme which takes him back to his childhood. Peta brings in a cardboard Len for motivation in practice, which later causes Bruno some ‘cardboard envy’! Bathed in vivid turquoise, the duo put on a great show, even with a wobble in one of the dips! They get raves from the judges – including Len, who Donald felt underscored him last week. They earn ’9′s across the board for ‘27‘!
Melissa Gilbert and Maks Chmerkovskiy seem to be endlessly frustrated with each other while practicing their Viennese waltz. Somehow it all comes together live. Melissa has really improved and is visibly more relaxed! Their dance is elegant, flowing, and romantic. The judges unanimously express their approval with ’8′s across the board for a total of ‘24‘.
Jaleel White and Kym Johnson were in the bottom two last week and won the dance duel to stay in the competition. They will do the cha cha cha tonight to a Temptations tune. Kym is so impressed with Jaleel in practice – her compliments have him giggling. They come out dressed like characters from the Emerald City, but their live performance is energetic and technically snappy! The judges rave that Jaleel is back! They nab ’10′s from Carrie Ann and Bruno and a ’9′ from Len – ‘29‘!
William Levy and Cheryl Burke are doing a rumba this week on Dancing With The Stars. Apparently their dance was so hot in practice the studio filled with smoke and the fire alarm sounded! On the dance floor it’s smouldering hot – like watching them do a sensual mating dance! Bruno, of course, is coming completely undone over William, but Carrie Ann doesn’t think it was his best dance, and Len says it was too raunchy! Regardless, they earn ‘27‘!
The Motown Week Marathon is now held for some extra points, with the winners earning 10. All couples are doing the cha cha cha, and you sit down when you’re tapped out. Tom Bergeron uses his golf announcer voice as they take their positions and begin. Gladys and Tristan are the first tapped out, followed by Maria and Derek, Roshon and Chelsea, Melissa and Maks, Donald and Peta, and Jaleel and Kym. That leaves William and Cheryl and Katherine and Mark. William and Cheryl are tapped out, so Katherine and Mark win it for an extra 10 points!
Who will you vote for? Who do you think will have to perform for their lives in the Dance Duel on tomorrow night’s results show?
