American Idol Results Recap: A Not So Shocking Elimination Tonight

April 26, 2012 05:59 PM by Lisa Princ

Last night on American Idol, the top six performed Queen tunes, but even after all the great renditions last night, someone would be going home tonight. Did you make sure to vote so that we would not have another shocking elimination? Read on to find out who was sent home this week!

With only six contestants remaining this week on American Idol, it was safe to say that the finalists were all nervous, especially after last week’s shocker. Luckily, they got to see a rocking performance of Somebody to Love to help calm their nerves. The remaining six then got some comic relief when they were taken over to TMZ, our favorite gossip site, for a lesson on how to deal with gossip media. Poor Skylar could not contain her laughter when they grilled her about a possible romance with Colton Dixon – not happening according to her!

Jimmy Iovine thought that both Jessica Sanchez and Elise Testone chose the wrong Queen songs, so which one was safe? Not surprisingly, Jessica Sanchez was deemed safe, and well deserved we might add. Elise, however, was in the bottom three – good riddance, maybe we will finally be rid of her. Next up on the stage was last season’s Stefano Langone – remember him? Just as I was left thinking I would be bored to death, Stefano was actually impressive with his new single I’m On A Roll, it was fun!

Back to the dreaded results for a minute, which will probably not shock you to hear that Joshua Ledet was safe, while Hollie Cavanaugh was in the bottom three tonight. These two, as you know, are best friends on the show, and you could see the sadness in both of their eyes when the results were announced, could Hollie hold on for another week? Katy Perry rocked the stage next with Part of Me, but even more than her performance was the purple hair she was rocking!

Jimmy Iovine shared his thoughts once again, claiming that Phillip Phillips did not do a good job last night, and that Skylar only did good on one of her tunes. Phillip was then sent to safety, leaving Skylar Laine in the bottom three, but only for a second until Ryan told Skylar that she was getting sent back to safety! Would it be Elise Testone or Hollie Cavanaugh heading home this week?

Ryan Seacrest then announced that Elise Testone was heading home this week!

It was her time, I think Hollie has a better voice than her.

Elise was to cocky, only because she thought she was gonna be the winner because she claims she has been singing kareoke for ever and she knew what everyone wanted……NOT

I actually loved ALL of the top 6, but Elise is probably the only singer who’s music I will buy. I’m OLD!, and she has that classic rock growl that I LOVE! Good Luck Elise, don’t give up on your dream, your almost there!

I hope Holly gets to stay another week or two. the judges always critize her, Id like to see any one of them sound as good as she does. I would buy her music anyday. Philips my favorite musician.

I’m glad Elise went home. I thought she and Philip were the two weakest singers. I was nervous waiting to see if Elise or Holly would go home. Holly deserves to stay more than Elise. I’m glad Elise is finally gone. Now let’s get rid of Philip next week…

I love music! Elise is the only one who will probably produce anything I would buy. The others are too young and inexperienced, and pretty much no good. If I were into gospel, maybe I’d buy Joshua’s music, but doubtful. He will never appeal to the pop audience, or anyone for that matter. Phillip sucks. Everything he sings sounds the same, he also has absolutely no performance ability. Jessica has sucked from the beginning. The only song she did well was the Whitney Houston song, and it was very karaoke. Why they saved her was beyond me. Stupid. Holly, well, she’s been over for quite some time. Why is she still there? She has done all she can do. Skylar, well, she’s shown consistent improvement over the last few weeks, but let’s face it, she’s country, and that’s all she’ll ever be. There’s nothing wrong with that though. Get rid of Jessica, Joshua, Holly, and Phillip. There you have it. Your finalist is Skylar, but is this really the best person American Idol could come up with? :(

Has AI ‘crowned’ a gay man? Do you think Joshua is gay and can be it?
