Someone is definitely NOT a fan of NBC‘s The Voice; or any reality singing competition for that matter. Find out which Country star called out fellow artists Blake Shelton, American Idol winner Carrie Underwood, and every other artist who’s even thinking about getting their start on TV.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Country music star Eric Church lashed out at reality singing competitions, taking aim at Voice coach Blake Shelton and Idol‘s Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler, and Scotty McCreery; all of whom are dominating the charts. (Hmmm… Is that bitterness we detect?)
“Honestly, if Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green f–king turn around in a red chair, you got a deal?” Church complained to the magazine. “That’s crazy. I don’t know what would make an artist do that. You’re not an artist.”
The 34-year-old “Drink In My Hand” singer went on to add that he’d never work on a reality show, saying, “If I was concerned about my legacy, there’s no f–king way I would ever sit there. Once your career becomes about something other than the music, then that’s what it is. I’ll never make that mistake. I don’t care if I f–king starve.”
Not ones to take anything sitting down, both Blake Shelton and his wife, Miranda Lambert tweeted about Church’s interview.
“I wish I misunderstood this…,” Shelton posted, with Miranda tweeting, “Thanks Eric Church for saying I’m not a real artist. Or Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban. You’re welcome for the tour in 2010.”
