America’s Got Talent’s Sponsors Threatened By Parents Television Council Over Howard Stern

May 07, 2012 01:00 PM by Lisa Princ

America’s Got Talent is about to kick of the new season on NBC, and the controversy over the newest judge, shock jock Howard Stern is already starting. The Parents Television Council has taken aim at Stern by threatening the show’s sponsors, and we can’t say we didn’t this one coming. Read on for more.

Howard Stern has not even made his television debut on America’s Got Talent yet, and already the controversy has started. According to TMZ, The Parents Television Council has sent a threatening letter to – get this – 91 of the show’s sponsors, demanding that they sever their ties with the show, or else! The Parents Television Council feels that a personality such as Stern will do nothing but corrupt the children who watch the show, and they want him gone.

In the letter obtained by TMZ, the Parents Television Council cites a comment that Howard Stern made about American Idol‘s Fantasia Barrino in the past: “Hey Fantasia, you’re not getting little boys hard. Nobody’s beating off to you. Little boys want boners. They want a Britney Spears or a Rihanna.” They went on to say to that Howard Stern has no judging abilities, and that the only thing Stern is interested in is: “looking at insecure, naked young women and telling them whether or not they are hot enough to pose for Playboy.”

In the past, the Parents Television Council has sent out similar threats and ironically, two shows (MTV’s “Skins” and NBC’s “The Playboy Club”) were both later canceled. Coincidence? We have no idea, but neither of those shows were as big as America’s Got Talent. What we can’t understand is why people can’t just give Howard Stern a chance? We highly doubt NBC will let Stern behave inappropriately on the show, so leave the guy alone already. While we wait for the premiere next week, check out the promo video featuring Stern below:
