May 08, 2012 07:22 PM by Veronica Dudo

If viewers have been wondering all season why Nicole Richie is a mentor on NBC’s new series, Fashion Star–they got their answer tonight when she showed her collection. Richie has actually been designing for a couple of years and now her line will be available at Macy’s. As for the competition, the number of designers continues to dwindle down and a Fashion Star will be selected soon but not before three designers are eliminated tonight! Keep reading to find what who will be in the final three! The remaining designers must create looks the buyers want to see in their stores on the reality TV series. As the fashion designers take direction from the buyers a lot is on the line since the rules have been changed for tonight. What’s the rule change? Even if a designer makes a sale they are still in danger of being eliminated. No one is safe!

The six remaining designers include Orly Shani, Nikki Poulos, Ronnie Escalante, Luciana Scarabello, Nzimiro Oputa and Kara Laricks. Host Elle Macpherson explains that if the buyers want to purchase the collection then the designers’ creations will be sold in their stores and on-line.

The three mentors are Jessica Simpson, Richie and John Varvatos. The buyers are Nicole Christie from H&M, Terron Schaefer from Saks Fifth Avenue and Caprice Willard from Macy’s.

The first designers to show their looks are Kara Laricks and Nzimiro Oputa. Kara designs dresses and trench coasts. Nzimiro’s collection offers casual trousers and safari jackets. Kara gets a $60,000 offer from H&M for her dresses and gets a $60,000 bid from Macy’s for her trench coats–now she has finally sold to all three stores. Nzimiro doesn’t get an offer for his jackets or pants!

Luciana Scarabello designs cropped shorts and pants along with high waisted skirts. Orly Shani creates structured dresses and blazers as well as wide legged trousers. Orly receives a $60,000 offer from Saks Fifth Avenue for her dresses and a $100,000 bid from H&M for her killer pants and blazers. Luciana doesn’t get an offer for her shorts and pants or her skirts!

Next, Nikki Poulos designs asymmetrical dresses as well as pants and blouses. Ronnie Escalante designs women’s suits and dresses. Nikki doesn’t get an offer for her pants and blouses but receives a $50,000 bid from Saks Fifth Avenue and has now sold to all three stores. Ronnie gets a $50,000 bid from Macy’s for his suits and gets a $110,000 offer from H&M for his dresses.

It’s now time for the designers to return to the stage to hear their fate. Emotions are high with all of the designers crying as they wait to find out if they will be staying in the competition or heading home. Nikki Poulos, Luciana Scarabello and Orly Shani are eliminated therefore Kara, Nzimiro Oputa and Ronnie Escalante are the final three designers who are still in the running to become America’s first Fashion Star.
