Despite an injured rib and stress fractures in her feet, Dancing with the Stars contestant Maria Menounos manages to heat up the dance floor with her moves – and heat up the red carpet with her sizzling style. Find out how you can copy her sexy, yet sleek style.
Maria Menounos and her pro dancing partner Derek Hough got high marks for their performance during Rock Week on Dancing with the Stars, with Bruno calling saying it had the right combination of “beauty, attitude and sex appeal,” and we have to say her personal style could be summed up the same way!
The Extra host was spotted at the QVC show during New York Fashion Week looking chic in a short and flirty leather skirt paired with a black sheer top. We have rounded up similar items so even if you can’t copy her dance movies, you can copy her cool style – on a budget!
“The difference between high-end and low-end is literally fabric and fit, and fabric has come such a long way that you can get great fabric,” she told New York magazine. “So now we get to fit. So what I’ll do is, I’ll go to Target and I’ll get a cute shirt, and it doesn’t really fit right. So I’ll take it to a tailor and for $4 or $5 they tailor it to my body and now it looks amazing, and people never know the difference.”
You could splurge on the Robert Rodriguez black silk chiffon top ($143, Bluefly) – or you could take Maria’s advice and save money on this Free People Black Chiffon lace blouse from Bluefly ($63) and have it tailored as needed to fit. Layer a black cami underneath for a sleek and edgy look.
We love Maria’s leather skirt and if you are splurging you will love the Dallin Chase Washed Leather Skirt ($354) from Shop Bop. This 100% lambskin skirt features ruching at the waist for a flattering fit. This Oasis Faux Leather Pleat skirt from ASOS has the same chic pleated finish and stretch high waist at a fraction of the price for only $80.57.
Maria wears black platform heels, similar to the Fergie Myth heels from Zappos for $64, for a leg-lengthening look. Give your style some edge with a cool cocktail ring, such as the Kendra Scott Otylia Ring in gunmetal ($48) from Zappos.
If you love Maria’s smoky eyes, but don’t feel confident in your makeup skills, you will love Cover Girl’s Smoky Eye Kit. It has step-by-step directions and all the products you need to create the perfect smoky eye look – and it is available at most drugstores for around $16!
