The Voice Finale Recap: Justin Bieber, Bedazzled Booties & The Best Reality Show Ending EVER!

May 08, 2012 08:40 PM by Shayla Perry

You may not have known it by watching the first hour or so of the live broadcast on NBC, but the Season 2 winner of The Voice was revealed tonight. Of course, the moment was almost overshadowed by Justin Bieber‘s much-anticipated return to the stage. BUT, we were pleasantly surprised by the ending, which may have been the BEST EVER in reality TV history. Seriously. What happened?

So, you knew that tonight’s finale was going to be dragged out. It just wouldn’t be a proper season finale if it wasn’t. But after several performances from former contestants, Hall & Oates, Lady Antebellum, Flo Rida, and yes, Justin Bieber, the two hours (or one and a half if you were smart enough to record it and fast forward through the commercials) were totally worth it after seeing how it all turned out.

Okay….rewind.

The show began with a performance from Jermaine Paul who brought back his pals Jamar Rogers, James “Lady Killer #2″ Massone, and Pip‘s bowtie to sing the Jackson 5‘s “I Want You Back.”

It was a great one, but Pip… Where was all that swag earlier in the competition, man? And where’s Jesse Campbell?!

After Chris Mann reminded us of the fact that Katrina Parker should’ve been in the finale by teaming up with her and Lindsey Pavao for “Bittersweet Symphony,” Hall & Oates performed their classic hit “Rich Girl,” with Jermaine, Tony Lucca, and Chris singing back-up.

Two things about this. 1. Didn’t Hall & Oates get the memo about the whole use of the b-word on The Voice? And 2. I thought we all agreed that Jermaine would never have to sing back-up vocals for anyone ever again.

Next, Naia Kete, Kim Yarborough, Sera Hill, and Cheesa hit the stage with “Superstitious”…and still no Jesse Campbell.

Juliet Simms (again) blows everyone away with an awesome ensemble performance with Erin Willett, RaeLynn and…nope, not Jesse Campbell, but Jamar Rogers. And once Tony Lucca brings out Jordis Unga for “Go Your Own Way,” it’s pretty clear that Jesse’s not making an appearance tonight. Unless…

The moment we were all waiting for (or dreading, depending on how you feel about him)…Justin Bieber’s performance of his hit single “Boyfriend”!!! Still no Jesse, but Christina was sure to bop her head to the beat as hard as she could to avoid any talk of a snub in the press tomorrow.

As if they couldn’t torture them (or us) anymore, Carson Daly brings all four finalists on stage to ask them what winning would mean to them.

Then, they reveal the 4th place finalist — Chris Mann, who was only beat by Tony Lucca by a quarter of a percentage point. That was close! And we were kind of sure that Tony would be in the top 2, but you never know how these things are gonna play out.

So, it’s between Team Cee Lo’s Juliet Simms and Team Blake’s Jermaine Paul. Separated by just 4 percentage points, the winner of The Voice is Jermaine Paul, not Juliet Simms, as most predicted. What the what?!

Shockingly, they want Jermaine to pull himself together enough to sing “I Believe I Can Fly” one last time. Yeah, right!

Just when you think he doesn’t even hear the music being cued up, in the BEST REALITY SHOW ENDING EVER (at least in a singing competition), Jermaine begins to sing as he’s embracing his wife. Seriously people, it’s like they’re the only two people in the room and soooo sweet. Not a dry eye in the room.

The only thing that ruined the moment was seeing that once again, Christina was without pants, wearing some bejeweled booty shorts, but we’ll let this one slide just because we’re feeling all lovey-dovey.

What did you think of the season finale of The Voice? Were you happy with the outcome?

The whole world knows JUSTIN BEAVER CAN’T SING LIVE!!! He is the reason why American music is going south!!! He is the reason why no vocal talents are so eager to become a singer. Because he proves you don’t need vocal talent to be a singer. So Please radio DJs, STOP his songs!!!

Long and boring show had many moment in which its title (The Voice) appeared more than ironic… But in the end I was glad with the top 2 and with Jermaine as the winner, that gave me a bit more faith in America. BUT where was Jessie Campbell? Would a performance by him have put the lie to the whole premise of the show. Will never forgive Christina for her complete and utter lack of integrity …her “feminist” sequined underwear being the final example.

It was great!! I enjoyed just about every performance and even the goofing around. I wanted Juliet to get second because I really felt she would do better making an album with Cee Lo and from one of her interviews it appears that is what is planned. She was my favorite. I was happy Jermaine won because he was the only guy not part of the drama being played out. And after today, Tony Lucca and all his snide comments just really annoyed me. Chris Mann is incredible and I really enjoyed his performances a lot.

Out of the remaining 4, I’d of like to see Tony take it, but all 4 were worthy. That being said, I feel the 2 singers who would have easily won if they were still In were Jesse Campbell and Jamar Rogers. The fact that Jesse was not even asked by any of the 4 remaining contestants makes me wonder if there was anything going on behind the scenes that caused him to be dropped by Christina so early.

It seems pretty clear the Jesse caused a lot of friction behind the scenes. His attitude was pretty clear from the beginning. He was a great singer but I remember feeling bad for Anthony who lost out to him in the battles as Anthony had a great humble attitude whereas Jesse seemed selfish from the get go.

I thought the finale was great. And as for Christina 1. She can wear whatever the hell she wants to. and
    2. Her choice of clothing wouldn’t be a spectacle if all the haters didn’t make it one.
