Snoozefest Alert! Chris Harrison Promises Less Drama On The Bachelorette This Season

May 11, 2012 02:00 PM by Lisa Princ

What?!? A new season of The Bachelorette with no drama? How can that even be possible? Well, it’s not – entirely. Although we know that some of Emily Maynard‘s bachelors have deep, dark secrets, the show’s host, Chris Harrison says the drama will be toned down this season. Uh-oh, are we in for a snoozefest? More after the jump!

“Emily’s season is drastically different. Her being a single mom changed the tone from night one. The guys all came in knowing it was Emily and wanting it to be Emily. They had to know that she’s looking at this through a very different light, as a parent. That changes everything,” Chris Harrison recently revealed in a press conference for the upcoming season of The Bachelorette (which premieres Monday, by the way).

And that was not the only revelation that Chris shared, in fact, we can expect less drama this season. Chris explained: “It’s just a very different season with very different drama. You don’t have the frat house humor and drama that maybe you’ve seen in seasons past with younger contestants. I liken it to Jason Mesnick’s season. There’s a much more serious tone. Calling it drama almost doesn’t do it justice. Emily’s trying to figure out if these guys are right to start a family with.”

Chris Harrison also responded to Emily Maynard’s comments of this season being more conservative: “Hot tubs always mysteriously appear! No, this season is very different. The thing about Emily too is that she’s not a crazy bungee jumping, sky diving kind of woman. She’s a Southern gem who likes to wear high heels and dresses. We cater and accommodate to who our Bachelorette is. In Charlotte, early on, there’s a building that we scale but it’s very tame. You definitely cater to who they are. You don’t bow down to their demands but we want her to be happy.”

It sounds to us like this may be a very boring season of The Bachelorette, but perhaps, Emily will actually find true love! What do you think? Do you thrive on the drama, or can the show do without it? Comment and share your thoughts with us below!

It would not surprise me if she pulls a Jen Scheft and picks no one.

I think the show will do just fine without all the drama. After all, she is a mother and looking for a family man, not a player. I know there will be a little drama with Bentley coming on the show. I hope she tells him to turn around and get right back on that helicopter and go home. I would. Good luck Emily.

It can be as boring as it likes, just as long as we are watching Emily disipher who’s what among the men presented to her. I feel confident that she will stick to her purpose for being there and that in itself will make watching NOT BORING. I am anxiously waiting for tomorrow night. Clearing up all my chores and making dessert.

I prefer the show w/o the drama. In general, the folks looking for drama, may be lacking it in their own lives. If the contestants can’t be serious enough to tone down the drama, then either the ABC casting folks didn’t do their job (if so, fire em’) or, ABC intentionally picked contestants that they knew would light the fire and therefore, increase their Nielson ratings (hence, make more money from advertisers).
