The Bachelorette‘s new season with Emily Maynard kicked off tonight, and some of her potential suitors were real winners. And no, we don’t mean that in a good way! Read on for all the highlights of the season premiere, which included an egg of all things!
The Bachelorette kicked off the brand new season tonight with Emily Maynard, who shared how much her daughter means to her, and that she is not only looking for love, but for a father figure for 6-year-old Ricki as well. As she sat and chatted with Chris Harrison, her nerves were getting the best of her, but then she reveals that she is over and ready to move on from Ricky’s death – um, wasn’t she ready when she won Brad Womack’s heart on The Bachelor? Emily then gushed that she wants babies, and her clock is ticking – nothing like scaring the men away, huh?
Emily arrives at the mansion looking stunning in a figure hugging gold gown. Oddly enough, she was shown prior with her daughter gushing that Ricki is too beautiful for makeup. Hmm, wonder if Emily has looked in a mirror lately? The gorgeous blonde certainly could go makeup less without losing any of her natural beauty. After a boring rundown of the bachelors, or what we already knew from ABC, it was time for the
potential suitors disasters to make their appearances.
While there were some normal, good-looking, quiet fellas, there were also some that made their presence know, and not positively. With that said, we’ll highlight the oddballs, or at least those who were interesting. Tony greeted Emily and introduced himself as Prince Charming – and he even brought a glass slipper that he placed (perfectly by the way) on Emily’s foot. Other romantics included Ryan, who brought a hand written note telling Emily how beautiful she was, and how very nervous he was!
Remember Doug Clerget, the real estate agent from Seattle, with the violent criminal past? He wooed Emily over with a speech on one knee about being a single dad, and you could tell she was falling for it. Arie Luyendyk Jr. gave me the heebie jeebies as soon as he walked in, but maybe that’s because we already know what a player he is. Meanwhile, Aaron tells Emily that he is a biology teacher, but assures her that is there to make chemistry with her – can you say cheesy? And we won’t even go there with Joe, who came in screeching straight from the trailer park – or at least that was the impression he gave.
Oh yes, and they got worse from there. Stevie, who looks like he just walked off the set of Jersey Shore, comes dancing in with a boombox in hand – someone forgot to tell him that it’s 2012. Randy dressed up as a grandma in what we assume was a joke in regard to last season – can you say not getting the first impression rose? Kalon put a huge target on his back by flying in via helicopter, but nothing compares to the egg. Yes, I said egg. Randy comes waltzing in with an ostrich egg, and then continues to give Emily some sickening speech about how he will take care of the egg all season just like he will take care of her and Ricki.
The first impression rose
After some mingling with the guys, Emily heads off to think about who will get the first impression rose. Kalon is certain that he is getting it because of his arrival by helicopter – and did I mention that he tried to weasel his way into it by giving Emily a speech about growing up with just his mom? Emily has other ideas though, and decided to give the first impression rose to Doug Clerget, because he made her feel like she “deserved to be there.”
The rose ceremony
It appeared as though we did not see Emily mingle too much tonight, maybe because it was only 90 minutes, or that they spent way too much time highlighting what we already knew about these guys. The 19 bachelors who did get a rose tonight were: Sean, Jef, Arie, Stevie, Chris, Ryan, Kalon, Charlie, Nate, Joe, Kyle, Aaron, Alejandro, John, Alessandro, Michael, Stevie, Tony, and Doug (first impression rose).
That meant that the remaining six would be headed home, and they went out with a bang as well. Most left quietly, but Brent made it a point to declare that he will most likely never find love, due to his age and six kids…hmm, not sure six stepchildren was what Emily meant when she said babies. Jackson, a 29-year-old fitness model went out swinging as well, as he removed his shirt to ensure that Emily saw what she would be missing – ugh, good riddance, he was full of himself!
