Doctors Urge Phillip Phillips to Undergo Surgery. Will His Health Problems Force FOX to Post-Pone The ‘American Idol’ Finale?!

Throughout the season, American Idol finalist Phillip Phillips has quietly suffered from severe kidney problems. And now that the bluesy rocker has made it to the finale, his condition has gotten worse, to the point where his doctor wants him to have surgery — IMMEDIATELY. So what does this mean for Phillip, and will FOX have to post-pone next week’s finale?
Phillip Phillips has long suffered from kidney problems, having had a stent put in at the beginning of his American Idol journey to allow him to hold off on surgery.
But now it seems that waiting may not be an option anymore.
According to multiple sources, when Phillip went back to Georgia last Saturday, he wasn’t eating and looked alarmingly ill. In fact, he spent most of his time with his doctor by his side.
TMZ reports that Phillips’ physician wants him to have the surgery he desperately needs right now, but he’s not about to let his health condition keep him from the Idol finale, which many predict that he’ll win vs. Jessica Sanchez.
Already, Phillip’s had to miss some of the show’s field productions – like those annoying Ford commercials – because the producers worried that they were just too much for him to handle. And the medication that he takes causes dry mouth, which has had a slight impact on his performances.
As of now, Phillip is adamant about waiting until after the finale for his surgery, so there aren’t any plans to move the date. But will his health problems come between him and the win?
