The Cannes Film Festival trends toward the classy. A-list stars like Sean Penn, Chris Pine and Ewan McGregor, and dark, moody films. These types don’t take well to the reality show circuit on TV, let alone in real life. So will sparks fly this Sunday when Kim Kardashian and Kanye West crash the Cannes party?
Actually, the couple has a legit reason to be there. Kanye West is premiering a short art-film entitled “Cruel Summer.” As stated in the official press release, the film is an “immersive seven-screen experience, unlike anything West has attempted before.” It’s inspired by the upcoming all-star G.O.O.D. Music album. Who knew Kanye West was at the cutting edge of multi-media art?
Stars of the film include comedian Aziz Ansari, Kid Cudi, Lebanese actress Razane Jammal (“Djinn”) and Palestinian actor Ali Suliman (“The Kingdom”). It is being screened outside of the official competition.
And how will the Hollywood elite react to Kim Kardashian walking their red carpets and stealing their limelight? That remains to be seen, but she’s been sticking close to her man. Even going so far as to wear his fashion designs around town. Will there be a “Keeping up with the Kardashians” crew in tow? E! has confirmed the star’s arrival at the festival on May 22nd, but we have yet to see if it will wind up on the show.
What delightfully French misadventures would you like see Kim Kardashian embark upon? Our guess is that it will involve a French maid outfit and confused hotel staff.
