America’s Got Talent Recap: Sure, You Can Kick Me In The Nuts

May 21, 2012 06:52 PM by Lisa Princ

Last week on the season premiere of America’s Got Talent on NBCHoward Stern made his debut, and we saw our share of wacky performances, but none of them compared to the insanity we witnessed tonight. Keep reading for a rundown of what went on during the New York auditions!

Tonight on America’s Got Talent it was a mixture of the good, the bad, and the downright painful to watch! We saw some interesting acts such as Flyte Crew, which consisted of a group of guys bouncing around on trampolines and shooting hoops. Howie Mandel was not impressed by them, telling them: “I don’t think you are original or that slick,” but he was overruled by Sharon and Howard – nothing like a good judges quarrel to start the show.

We also witnessed Howard Stern have an emotional breakdown – yes, I said Howard Stern! When 7-year-old Mir Money took the stage with his rap act, it was obvious that he was horrible, and Howard was quick to buzz him. When Howard started to give him the “you’re so brave to be up there” speech, the little tyke started to bawl. Howard Stern couldn’t control himself and ended up on the stage with Mir Money, consoling him – it was quite an emotional moment. It was so emotional that Howard was about to change his vote to a yes…until Howie and Sharon stopped him, wanting to spare the kid of anymore disappointment – good call from the experienced judges.

And speaking of experienced judges, Sharon Osbourne was in all her glory tonight when Olate Dogs hit the stage. Olate Dogs was a father and son act, complete with…you guessed it – entertaining dogs! These dogs weren’t any ole animal act though, they were incredible. The dogs were running on two legs, dancing, holding onto each other, and playing jump rope. It was amazing to watch, and in the words of Howie Mandel, it was  ”one of the best animal acts to ever hit the stage on America’s Got Talent.”

We also watched some good singing acts, but the one that stood out was 77-year-old Burton. Burton deemed himself the “grandfather of rap,” when he admitted that he had been rapping way before rap was even introduced. Donning what appeared to be one of those children’s Casio keyboard toys, Burton hit the stage with his insanely stiff dance moves and horrific song. Oddly enough, Burton was able to catch the audience and the judges with his “Whatcha gonna do?” hook. Anyone remember “Pants on the ground” from Idol a few seasons back? Same concept, and yes, he got through to Vegas leaving us wondering what the heck were the judges thinking?

By far the funniest (and most painful to watch) act of the night was a Pennsylvania man named Horse. Horse was determined from the get go to “shock the shock jock” with his extremely unique act. So, what could possibly so unique, you may ask? Well, Horse has a knack for being kicked in the nuts – yes, you read that correctly.  Horse came out with his friends, who were all whacking him in the balls with various sticks, followed by breaking cinder blocks on top of his goods.

Oh, and just so we would know that he was not wearing a cup to protect what appeared to be a small package, he made sure to strip down to his tighty whities for us. Now, being the skeptic, Howard Stern took it upon himself to ask Horse if Nick Cannon could kick him in the balls, and Horse agreed. Nick took a few good kicks, and the judges were impressed, sending this wacko on to Vegas. Honestly, the things people will do to be on television (and win a million bucks) never ceases to amaze me.

For the most part I enjoy the talent (or so called talent) but last nights show with the young man having the other men hit him in the groin area was disgusting. This is a 8:00 showing and most children are watching this. That part should not made it to the showing. I was disgtusted.
We learn enough garbage from tv and why do we think that kind of stuff is funny. It just mean that there would be hundreds of kids today kicking other boys in the groin. Lets make our shows children friendly.

I felt bad for Mir Money when he cried but if they’re going to have acts that young they have to be prepared emtionally for any kind of feedback they get from the experienced judges. Or the parents should prepare them emotionally at least. The guy getting his two best friends beaten up was fun to watch, a lot more so than that old joker with that crappy little Casio keyboard rapping “Wahtcha Gonna Do.” What I’m gonna do after hearing that crap is go throw up. How pathetic.
