Last night at the 2012 Billboard Awards, Duets star John Legend and American Idol alum Jordin Sparks paid tribute to the late Whitney Houston with two moving performances. But according to sources, just minutes before the singers took to the stage, there was a bit of drama going on in the audience between the Being Bobby Brown star’s family and her former boyfriend Ray J. What happened, and are the rumors true or false? RTVM’s Rumor Patrol is on the case!
According to “unnamed sources,” tensions were high at last night’s Billboard Awards, when Whitney Houston’s sister-in-law and former manager, Patricia Houston, saw that the late singer’s former boyfriend, Ray J had arrived and was seated next to the family.
Rumor has it that right before John Legend and Jordin Sparks’ performance, Patricia summoned eight officers in plainclothes to physically remove Ray J, but she quickly decided to call them off to avoid making a scene.
Instead, Ray J remained in his seat to watch as Patricia and Whitney’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina, accepted the Millennium Award on her behalf.
But is there any truth to the story?
“That story is not true. It’s ridiculous. The Billboard people arranged the seats and all was fine,” a rep for the Houston family tells Access Hollywood.
Representatives of the Las Vegas Police Department and the Billboard Awards also confirmed that this rumor is without a doubt FALSE!
