Dancing with the Stars professional dancer Chelsie Hightower looked casually chic at an after party for the show with her dancing partner, Disney star Roshon Fegan. From her cool turquoise-colored denim to her “suicide roll” updo, find out how you can replicate Chelsie’s style.
Chelsie always looks trendy and casually cool when out on the town, so it is only fitting that the pro dancer is about to add a new title to her name: Fashion designer! She is joining forces with Sugar and Bruno to create a line of dance inspired clothing, which blends street style with fashionable looks.
“We have gone from my first Down and Groovy t-shirt to what we are doing now,” she said. “The brand has really evolved. I can throw out crazy ideas and we go for it, always innovating making clothes that look and feel incredible. “
Chelsie is seen here wearing colored denim, which is a red hot trend the season. Copy her look with the Ava Ultra Skinny jean in turquoise ($59) from Arden B. These jeans have just the right amount of stretch to make them both flattering and comfortable.
Brightly colored jeans look best when paired with a solid top, as Chelsie did with her black tank with an asymmetrical hemline. Replicate her look with the Nixon Freja Tank Top in black ($40) from Zappos. She layers a cropped leather jacket over her tank for added edge. You can copy her look while staying in the good graces of PETA in this Free People Cropped Vegan Leather Jacket ($198), which is made of faux leather.
Give your look a sexy finish, as Chelsie did, with black platform heels, similar to the Renees by Vince Camuto ($89) from Piperlime.
Chelsie is totally rocking the “suicide roll” hairstyle, which is similar to the 1940’s hairdo (think Rita Hayworth), but this modern version is done just up top, instead of the entire hair. These are totally back in style, thanks in part to the singer Karmin, who gives a great tutorial on YouTube on how to master this look. You basically backcomb a portion of your bangs and twist it and bobby pin it into a chic roll, but watch her video for detail instructions.
Chelsie brightens her face with sheer pink lipgloss, such as Nars Angelika lipgloss ($24), which is a cotton candy pink lipgloss with gold and silver sparkles. As far as her eyes, she confesses she uses the prescription eyelash lengthener Latisse.
“I love not having to wear eye makeup,” says Hightower. “I’m a blonde, so my lashes are blonde and I never felt like I could leave the house without eye makeup on before. Now I can get out of the house and just go, and I love the look of putting fake lashes on top of them when I’m dancing!”
You can also fake longer eyelashes with lengthening mascara, such as Rimmel London Lycra Lash Extender Mascara, which is available at drug stores for around $8.
