America’s Got Talent Recap: No Talent In Tampa?

May 28, 2012 06:52 PM by Lisa Princ

Last week on America’s Got Talent on NBC, we watched some fun and crazy auditions, with some sticking in our heads for the rest of the week. Tonight, the auditions continued in Tampa, but was there any talent to be found there? Read on for the highlights!

Tonight on America’s Got Talent the auditions moved to Tampa, Florida. Immediately, things got off to a good start with a self proclaimed urban “Glee” group, who really impressed us with their sound. But then, things took an awful turn for the worse, as we were left wondering where the talent was and how people could actually go on stage for nothing more than sheer embarrassment.

Even an attractive group of bikini clad female strippers could not impress the judges tonight. In fact, when they came on stage to dance, Howard Stern told them that his 90-year-old grandmother had better moves than they did. Then we watched as Howie Mandel comically joined a male dancer on stage, and then told him that he was not going through because Howie “could not go through that again,” but honestly, the performance itself was awful.

And things just kept getting worse, if you can believe it, as an “escape artist” took the stage and asked Howard Stern to tie him up, so that he could quickly escape. The most entertaining part of the routine? Watching Howard Stern continually tell the guy to “shut up.” And when Sharon Osbourne put her two cents in on how horribly Howard was tying the guy up, Howard replied with: “Now I know why Ozzy isn’t here – he can’t take you!”

We did see some talent tonight, such as a clogging group of guys from South Carolina. When these masculine dudes hit the stage, we were not expecting such a spectacular performance. And there were the usual dancers, musicians, and magicians, but overall it was a boring night of auditions. And even Ulysses, a hopeful, found himself so bored that he was snoring away on camera.

Cue the Sanford and Son theme, and…Ulysses is awake! The older gentleman then gushes to the camera about his love of old television shows..uh-oh, where is this going? Yep, you guessed it! Ulysses took the stage and gave the judges his best rendition of “The love Boat” theme song, and he was actually entertaining. Despite Howard Stern’s dislike of the performance, Ulysses was headed to Vegas.

That’s all for tonight! Did you think it was a boring episode tonight? We sure did, hopefully they up the level of talent on tomorrow’s show! Be sure to tune in tomorrow for more America’s Got Talent on NBC!

I live in Tampa and had no idea they even came here. They actually were in St Petersburg. Which is about 30 minutes from Tampa. I agree though. Boring Show. But I’ve actually only seen about 5 acts combined that were interesting to me from all the shows.
