On this edition of Around The World In 80 Plates, the chefs are off to Marrakech, Morrocco where the course takes them on a challenging trip through the Medina. For the takeover, the teams prepare a local favorite, tagine. Who can stand the heat in the kitchen and who is losing their cool? Keep reading to find out what chef is eliminated on the Bravo reality TV series!
Celebrity chefs Curtis Stone and Cat Cora are the hosts who take viewers on an up close and personal tour of the world. The nine remaining chefs include Steve Postal (aka “Nookie”), Nicole Lou, Nick Lacasse, Liz Garrett, John Vermiglio, Jenna Johansen, Gary Walker, Chaz Brown and Avery Pursell.
With the number of chefs dwindling down, there will now be three teams for this task. The Black Team: Nookie, Avery and John; the Red Team: Jenna, Liz and Nicole; and the White Team: Chaz, Gary and Nick.
First the teams must find and identify the correct spices as they race through town. Before arriving at the spice shop the teams must trek through the Medina–a grueling task. The women note that the men are hissing at them but because of cultural restrictions they cannot do anything about it!
In the shop Gary is up at the counter and Nookie is literally pushing himself closer to the counter. Gary repeatedly asks for room but Nookie doesn’t budge. Nookie says it’s a competition and if he has to give someone a flat tire to win–then he will. Some have argued the Around the World in 80 Plates isn’t truly a cooking show but a race against time.
Next, the teams must race to pour tea correctly on the roof of a building in-front of the hosts and experts. The Black Team wins and gets the exceptional ingredient–a local guide and wins $15,000!
Back in the hotel the chefs are exhausted from their adventure but the reality of the competition sets in and they begin to form alliances. The Black Team decides to stick together and vote off Chaz while the White Team agrees to eliminate Avery because she’s a huge threat.
Back in the kitchen, the heat rises as the Black Team claims they were sabotaged when ingredients go missing! Avery can’t find her beets and starts to ask around. Chaz seems to always be looking for a fight and the two go back and forth for a while. Gary tries to defuse the situation by asking the workers if they’ve seen the beets. They are able to locate the ingredient and the drama ends.
All of the chefs are preparing courses for Chef Moha Fedal who is the local food expert. After dinner is served the chefs and patrons like the Red Team’s food the best therefore Jenna, Nicole and Liz are safe this week. Liz is also selected as the chef who stood out the most.
Now, the two teams at odds must regroup to deliberate. The teams appear to stick with their original plans of all voting off the same player. When Curtis asks who the Black team wants to vote off they all say Chaz and when the White Team is asked who they want voted off they all say Avery so it’s a tie! Curtis asks Liz to make the final decision. She says it’s very difficult but that she must eliminate Chaz Brown.
