How Kelly Clarkson Could Be Hurting Her ‘Duets’ Partners’ Chances of Winning (And It’s Not The Reason You Think!)

Her fellow “superstars,” John Legend and Robin Thicke, have said that her amateurs rely on her too much throughout their performances, and she’s admitted that they definitely have less experience. But we believe there’s something else keeping Kelly Clarkson‘s Duets partners – Jordan Meredith and Jason Farol – from the top of the leader board each week. And yes, Kelly’s still to blame.
Despite their undeniable talent, Jordan Meredith and Jason Farol have yet to get very high on the leader board on ABC‘s new singing competition, Duets (unless you count Jordan’s 2nd place spot last week, which she only got because she was the second performer).
While some may say that the other contestants are just THAT much more polished, or that both Jason and Jordan rely on Kelly a little too much while on stage (which is probably true), we think there’s something else going on that could cost them the competition.
With the “secret scoring” used on the show, we don’t get to see how each judge is actually allotting points. And with a range of 1-100, well, that leaves a lot of room for flexibility; perhaps too much flexibility.
It can be assumed that the American Idol alum has been giving out more points than the other judges, in general. But because they’re unable to benefit from her generous scoring, Jason and Jordan may not make it very far.
What do you think RTVM: Do you think the scoring on ABC’s Duets is fair? How would you change it? Sound off in the Comments section below.
