Drug-addicted Teen Mom Amber Portwood has been sent to prison for five years. Amber gave up on her court-appointed drug rehab program several weeks ago and, instead, asked the Indiana courts to reinstate her original sentence of five years in prison. The judge in her case did just that this morning! If Amber is locked up for the full five years, Leah will be eight years old before her mother is out of prison. So sad. Read on for all the details!
The original sentence is the result of an arrest in December for drug possession and parole violations. At the time, she agreed to drug rehabilitation to avoid prison. After missing a mandatory appointment with the courts, the teen mom said she was done with the rehab program.
TMZ reports Amber’s attorney asked the judge for leniency, but the judge denied the request. She will receive credit for time served, however. Amber is being sent to a prison-based treatment center.
The other stars of Teen Mom, Catelynn Lowell, Farrah Abraham, and Maci Bookout, recently talked to E! news about the final season of Teen Mom, which begins airing Tuesday, June 12 on MTV. Maci says, “Being in this whole experience together for four years, we all have this special bond, so we want nothing but the best for Amber and we just want her happy.”
