Even though the Glee season finale has aired don’t worry you can still listen to awesome mash-ups and see some of the cast members on The Glee Project! Returning to the Oxygen channel for its second season, The Glee Project brings together 14 contestants who are all vying for the grand prize–a seven episode arc on Glee. This summer, Ryan Murphy and Dante Di Loreto will again be executive producers. Mentors Robert Ulrich and Zach Woodlee talk about the new cast, the second season of the reality TV show and Lea Michele’s guest appearance!
Ulrich says they saw thousands of hopefuls and found some of the best talent across the country, “There’s a lot of talent out there and any one of these 14 contenders could win you know–they’re all amazing.”
This season the cast is very diverse including a contestant who is blind, one who is paralyzed from the chest down and another who has severe ADHD and low-spectral autism which reinforces the Glee theme of encouraging everyone to follow their dreams.
Ulrich reveals, “Working so intimately with these contenders has been just the most beautiful experience that I know I’ve ever had.”
Woodlee adds, “Once the season starts, you’ll be able to see that these kids have so much talent. The House they live in is just this mecca of different types of people that are all brought together for the same love of one thing, which is performing.”
Lat year, viewers saw the first group of contenders who worked very hard to impress the judges. Ulrich says about both groups, “I think last year’s talent was also amazing, but this is just even more diverse, even more unique. And I’d say that these kids overall are just exceptional musically–just exceptional.”
In the premiere episode, Lea Michele makes a guest appearance to help out the cast! Ulrich says she is the perfect person to help them overcome any struggles.
“She has experience in film and television and theater so she really is a person who can honestly not only evaluate them and give them constructive criticism, but also really teach them because she really does know,” he said.
