A new crop of talented singers on The Glee Project try their best to impress Ryan Murphy each week to win a role on Glee, the FOX hit series but at the same time it’s bittersweet for fans as one of the hopefuls is eliminated! Last night was the premiere and the adorable cowboy Maxfield Camp was the first to go. Did you know his motivation to be on the Oxygen reality series was to win the respect of a girl he loved and lost? Even though he was eliminated, do you want to know if he got her back? Keep reading to find out!
Maxfield is a country singer/songwriter who discovered his voice just last summer! He auditioned at the Nashville open casting call. The most obviously character for Maxfield to play would have been himself–a singing cowboy so his elimination was a shock to many! When asked had he been given a role on Glee, what kind of character he saw himself playing Maxfield answered, “I could have easily seen if I would have been on the show they would have had me in a cowboy hat and just had me walking in on a horse.”
Even Ryan Murphy admitted that Maxfield was charming but the eliminated contestant said he had even more to offer had he stayed in the competition, “I feel like I would have brought a completely different edge and a completely different vibe to Glee that hasn’t been seen before with country music,” he explained.
Despite his brief stint in the competition, he said he developed some pretty awesome friendships, “We all grew really close very fast.”
Looking back on his time with The Glee Project, Maxfield said he learned a lot about the entertainment business. “It really opened up my eyes to so many different ways that you can perform,” he said, “especially not doing theater before and now being in that world I wouldn’t change the experience for anything and I’m so grateful for it.”
Maxfield’s motivation to be on the show was to win the respect of a girl he loved and lost. He also wears a “promise ring” every day to remind himself of where he has been and to treat women with the same respect he desires to one day treat his wife. So, what happened with the mysterious girl he loved and lost? “She’s still in my life,” Maxfield revealed, “We talk but it hasn’t moved forward beyond that. I think that we’re both in two different parts of our lives right now and if it’s meant to be it’s going to happen I guess. I still care for her and love her deeply.”
Aww, how cute! We hope things work out for this sweet singing cowboy!
