Is Ben Stiller’s ‘Burning Love’ Better Than ‘The Bachelor’? (Hint: The Answer Rhymes With “Mess”!)

June 07, 2012 11:00 AM by Shayla Perry

If you haven’t seen Ben Stiller‘s hilarious Bachelor spoof, “Burning Love,” you’re definitely missing out! From Michael Ian Black‘s spot on impression of Chris Harrison to the multiple Dental Hygienists (and at least one Kindergarten teacher) vying for firefighter Mark Orlando’s heart, this web series has us laughing from start to finish. Is it better than the ABC reality show? Short answer: Yes. But keep reading to watch the first episode and judge for yourself.

A spoof of ABC’s Bachelor? Ben Stiller — what took you so long?!

Yes, after all of these seasons, the comedic actor and producer has created a web series entitled, “Burning Love,” where we get to watch fictitious firefighter Mark Orlando on his quest for love, Bachelor-style.

“I know I have a lot to give to a partner,” Orlando tells the show’s host, played by Michael Ian Black. “I just want someone to give it to … every night. And in the morning. And sometimes in the shower.”

The series, which mocks everything we both love and loathe about the show (Will Mark find someone beautiful, smart, and “ethnic“?), also features a few familiar faces, like Jennifer Aniston, Malin Akerman, Kristen Bell, Christine Taylor, The Hangover‘s Ken Jeong, and Bachelor alum Jake Pavelka.

If you’ve missed the first episode, you can catch it here, then tell us what you think in the Comments section below.

This show is great. Half the fun is reading the comments that people post. A large group actually thinks the show is real and always seems surprised by the outcomes. I can’t stand really TV but a comedy that exposes those shows is great.
