Despite being criticized for her weight over the years, ABC‘s Duets star Kelly Clarkson doesn’t count every calorie that goes into her mouth or obsess about being stick thin. The talented singer recently dropped 30 pounds but didn’t starve herself to get there. The fact that Kelly isn’t obsessed about her weight sets her apart from most young Hollywood starlets who are constantly on diets. Read on to find out more.
Kelly lost weight in six months, and she did it by controlling her portions, running and doing strength training exercises five days a week. Kelly decided to lose weight when she saw a recording of her December performance on VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul. She realized that she looked heavy and wanted to lose weight for her overall health and well-being.
The 5-foot-4 American Idol winner said that shaping up is about finding out what’s right for you. “Really, what I try to instill in my fans is to be healthy and happy. I have no desire to be super-skinny.”
And Kelly’s beau, Brandon Blackstock, really seems to like her new shape. According to US Weekly, “Brandon is the first guy who ever told her how beautiful and sexy she is. She wants to look good for him.”
It sure is refreshing to hear about a celebrity getting in shape to be healthy instead of for vanity reasons. Kelly is a great role model for young women and should be looked up to.
