The globetrotting continues on tonight’s episode of Around the World in 80 Plates. The competing chefs find themselves in Bologna, a city in Northern Italy on the Bravo reality TV series. Tonight, the chefs shift gears to tackle the local favorite, tortellini. Tempers flare between two chefs over past issues and one of the contenders is vigilant on taking a teammate down!
This is a game of skills and strategy. The winner will receive $150,000 and a brand new Infiniti JX Luxury Crossover. Celebrity chefs Curtis Stone and Cat Cora are the hosts who take viewers on an up close and personal tour of the world. The seven remaining chefs include Steve Postal (aka “Nookie”), Nicole Lou, Nick Lacasse, Liz Garrett, John Vermiglio, Jenna Johansen, and Avery Pursell.
With $10,000 on the line, the teams fight to find the correct cheeses out of hundreds of options stacked in a huge warehouse and must get it to their destination. While trying to locate their ingredients the teams run through the market as the race against time continues. In the end, the Red Team made up of Jenna, Liz and John wins. This week’s exceptional ingredient is time–the Red Team will get an extra 60 minutes to cook. In a shocking turn of events, Jenna decides to invite the Black Team made up of Nookie, Avery, Nicole and Nick to her special dinner with a local well-known chef! It’s a competition and everyone should be out for themselves. During the dinner, Jenna asks the chef to tell her what the secret ingredient in the dish is in Italian! She is the only one who understands the language. The Black Team is not happy and voice their remarks. Jenna says the Black Team should be grateful she invited them to the dinner adding that she now regrets being nice to them!
In the kitchen, star-chef Avery has major problems with her homemade pasta. Back home she teaches people how to make pasta and can’t believe the problems she is having. Meanwhile, Nick says Nicole isn’t preparing her dish properly. He’s also worried because she has immunity. Over at the Red Team’s restaurant, Liz is a little bit behind with her dish and Jenna and John jump in to help her out.
While talking about their dishes Jenna says Liz’s dish was super salty but that she wasn’t going to tell Liz because it’s a competition! The hosts and chefs are taken aback by Jenna’s blunt comment. In the end the local diners like the Red Team’s dishes better. John is voted the most valuable chef. Now, the Black Team must send someone home. Nick is really upset because he knows Avery and Nookie have an alliance and Nicole has immunity. Ultimately, Nick is voted off of the competition.
