Last week, Duets contestant Alexis Foster lost out to Jason Farol in an a capella showdown. The star may be off the show, but as Kelly Clarkson was quick to point out, it doesn’t mean her singing career is over. Keep reading to learn what Alexis thinks about singing on a reality TV show!
A few days after getting cut from Duets, Alexis Foster spoke with Reality Wanted about what she’s gained from the experience. First though, Alexis revealed that, unlike many of her fellow Duets competitors, she has not spent the last decade dreaming of performing on a reality TV show. When asked why she chose Duets over, say, American Idol, Alexis responded, “I don’t even watch these types of TV shows. Growing up, my friends wanted me to try out for American Idol and I was kinda like, ‘Eh…’”
It took a little convincing, but Alexis eventually decided to give Duets a try. “One of my friends showed me, on the ABC website, the ad for Duets. She knew I was a fan of Robin Thicke but I was still kind of iffy about it. I had been away from singing for a while.” Once Alexis did try out for the show, she was amazed by how quickly she moved up the ranks. She took it “as a sign” and decided to continue on with the competition.
It’s sad to see such a talented young woman leave the competition, but who knows? Fans just might be hearing Alexis Foster’s voice elsewhere in the future.
