Losing Alexis Foster last week was definitely a blow to his ego, but fortunately (or is it unfortunately?), Robin Thicke has a LOT more ego to spare. How will his last amateur, Olivia Chisolm, do representing Team Thicke as the contestants and their superstar partners belt out some of the biggest party songs of all time? Which amateur’s vocal ability seems to be linked to their shoes? Who was eliminated? Find out everything you missed in the latest episode of ABC‘s Duets after the jump.
This week on Duets, the competition (finally) started to rock out a bit as the contestants took on party songs.
To kick off the show, Kelly Clarkson and Jason Farol performed “Satisfaction.” Obviously, as the first one, he’s at the top of the leader board (seriously, why do they waste 30 seconds doing this each week?), but the other judges agree that this was definitely Jason’s best performance yet.
Was it enough to keep him out of the bottom two though?
Honoring the late great disco queen, Donna Summer, John Legend and Bridget Carrington perform “Last Dance,” giving Jason his last chance at the number one spot for tonight, anyway. But with Jennifer Nettles‘ amateur, J Rome doing a SPOT ON Michael Jackson with “Pretty Young Thing,” Bridget isn’t there for long either.
Robin Thicke, apparently not fully understanding the theme of the week, sings “Let’s Stay Together” with partner Olivia Chisholm (snooze!). Every party has a pooper, and this week it’s Olivia, ending up in 4th.
Kelly and Jordan Meredith were hoping to keep the momentum from last week going with “I Love Rock And Roll,” but it’s clearly not as good. Is it because Jordan was back to wearing shoes this time? If so, girl…you need to ditch the heels and go barefoot for as long as you can to keep yourself in the competition!
John Legend and Meleana Brown surprised everyone with Kelly’s “Since U Been Gone.” Kelly and Jennifer both agreed that it was slightly on the pitchy side, but still good. Not great though, as she’s in the bottom two, so far, along with Olivia.
Jennifer and John Glosson take on “Life Is A Highway,” which was a personal challenge for John, who isn’t comfortable with upbeat tempos. You wouldn’t know it, because he nails it, getting him to the third spot on the leader board, leaving Meleana and Olivia to sing for the chance to stay on the show for at least another week.
After two great performances, it’s Meleana Brown who’s sent packing. (Didn’t she just get there?!)
