Yes, we know what you are thinking. Some of the contestants vying for Emily Maynard‘s heart on The Bachelorette appear to be rigged, but according to the executive producer of The Bachelor franchise, his shows are 100% real. He did, however, go on to diss reality tv in general, claiming that most shows are rigged nowadays. Wow, really? Who knew! (note the sarcasm) Read on for more…
Reality television rigged? No way! We had no idea – kidding, folks. But seriously, the executive producer of The Bachelor franchise recently spoke up about how his shows compare to other reality shows, and he pretty much dissed all the other show, claiming that they are rigged in some way or another. During a recent interview, Mike Fleiss said: “I think most of the shows are fake,” but quickly added that the creators of The Bachelor series: “really, really kill ourselves and spend a lot of money and time to make sure that it’s real.” Hmm, are you telling us that nothing is rigged on The Bachelor or The Bachelorette? Now that I definitely do not believe!
Fleiss went on to add that most shows want to add that “shocking” effect and: “It’s not completely fake but the best moments of those shows are usually orchestrated. If the viewer gets desensitized to these reality TV moments then yes, the stakes have to increase so that forces the producer to try and deliver something that is even higher octane.” And then he went on to place part of the blame on the viewers: “They’re not requiring a pure delivery of non-fiction content. They know it’s somewhat fake but they’re OK with it.”
