The second season of The Glee Project is underway and another contestant was eliminated last night. Dani Shay dishes about what it was like being on the Oxygen reality TV series, what her future might hold and what artists she would love to collaborate with one day. Keep reading for the details!
On last night’s dance-ability episode, the contestants needed to bust out their best moves on the dance floor for the mentors. Unfortunately, the mentors and judge/creator Ryan Murphy were not impressed. Dani Shay was in the bottom three and needed to carry out the nerve wracking last-chance performance. Stevie Nicks’ famous hit “Landslide” was the song chosen for Dani to sing and she nailed it. However, Ryan Murphy said he saw Dani more as an artist rather than a Broadway-style singer for Glee.
“I wish that I had had a chance to show more of my wit and my humor and my rapping skills,” Dani said of her second-week elimination. She added that being on the show has been a true learning experience, “I feel like I know myself so much better as an artist and a performer,” she explained.
At the age of 16, Dani taught herself how to play the guitar. She also has been writing original songs and independently released four albums and two singles. Dani says her elimination has inspired her to concentrate on her music. “I’m going to continue; now I’m going to build a band, continue to record my music and release some music videos.”
Dani also says that having the opportunity to be on The Glee Project has made an impact on her music, “I just feel like going forward I’m going to be really just in-touch with my music and creating really amazing songs,” she said.
Looking into the future Dani says there are a couple of artists that she would love to have the opportunity to perform with one day.
“I would love to work with any of my top role models as far as music goes: Alanis Morissette Ani DiFranco and I actually really love Eminem–I would love to do some sort of collaboration with him too!” She revealed.
