We know that she’s secretly planning to take over the world with her Skinnygirl empire, but is Bethenny Frankel also working behind-the-scenes in the casting department at Bravo? Rumor has it that the margarita maven and talk show host had a little something to do with casting this season of The Real Housewives of New York City, and we’ve got all the details.
She may have left the Bravo reality series years ago, but apparently, Skinnygirl Bethenny Frankel still has big clout when it comes to casting The Real Housewives of New York City…at least the current season, anyway.
In an interview with The New York Daily News, the newly minted talk show host revealed that she was the one who talked Bravo boss Andy Cohen into taking a look at one of the three ladies who were recently added to the show.
“I cast Aviva [Drescher]. I’m the reason she’s on the show,” a modest Frankel admits.
B knew Aviva through a friend and recommended that she be a part of the series “a couple of years ago.” Obviously, that didn’t work out, but when the cast shake-up went down last year, Frankel ever-so-gently nudged Cohen in Drescher’s direction.
“I said, ‘Go back and find the tape of that woman. I think she would probably be a good housewife,’” Bethenny recalls. “So here we are.”
So, if you love Aviva Drescher or hate her, you have Bethenny Frankel to thank either way.
