In February, Real Housewives of New York City alum Bethenny Frankel shocked us all when she announced that she had suffered a miscarriage. But in the latest issue of Glamour magazine, the talk show host reveals more intimate details about that physically and emotionally painful time in her life; including the heart-wrenching news that made her fall “to pieces.”
When Bravo‘s reality TV darling Bethenny Frankel found out that she was pregnant with her second child at age 41, she knew almost instantly that this pregnancy was different than her first with husband Jason Hoppy.
“I was still bleeding, and I was nauseated and uncomfortable — ‘way worse than last time,’ I said to Jason. I felt seven months pregnant even though I was six weeks along,” Frankel tells Glamour. “And because we hadn’t planned this, I felt unprepared, like we had so much to do to get ready for this baby. Still, I was excited, if cautiously so, with the words high risk ringing in my ears.”
After suffering the miscarriage, Bethenny admits that she struggled emotionally.
“I blamed myself — of course I did,” she says, revealing that the most painful moment took place 10 days later when her doctor told her that the baby would have been a girl.
“He told me that the tests came back as ‘female fetus, normal,’ says B. “He was reading off a chart, reassuring me that there wasn’t some chromosomal abnormality. But all I heard was ‘female,’ and I fell to pieces. … I was picturing Bryn with a little sister… Two little girls in rain boots,” she recalls.
