June 19, 2012 02:42 PM by Stephanie Gustafson

Have you been missing the sound of Phillip Phillips’ voice? Those amazing vocal cords have been on hiatus since the singer won American Idol and went in for surgery. We miss Phillips too. Fortunately, the long wait is over and Phillip Phillips is returning to the stage! Keep reading for the details.

July 4th is a day for picnics, fireworks and, of course, the proud display of American flags. This year, another theme will be added to the list: Phillip Phillips. The American Idol winner is making his big return on the 4th and what better place to do it than at the nation’s capitol? That’s right, Phillip Phillips will be performing on Capitol Hill on the 4th of July. He’s set to join a long list of popular musicians for the PBS special A Capitol Fourth.

Phillips will be singing an all-time fan favorite: Home. American Idol fans may recall that this was Phillips’ coronation song. Immediately following its release, Home broke all kinds of records, shooting up into the Billboard Top 10 and selling 400,000 copies in the first two weeks alone. The song is clearly an appropriate choice for celebrating the success of a talented young singer. And it will be a great addition to a fantastic lineup of 4th of July performances!
