Remember Lauren Gottlieb from season 3 of So You Think You Can Dance? She was the sleek contemporary dancer usually paired with Neil Haskell. Lauren later returned to SYTYCD as a member of the distinguished all-star cast. Now, Lauren is taking on a completely new opportunity in another part of the world. Keep reading for the details!
Lauren Gottlieb is typically thought of as a contemporary dancer, although she is trained in a variety of styles. Now, though, the SYTYCD alum will be lighting up the stage and the screen in India as a Bollywood dancer. She is slated to perform a lavani (the latest dance craze in India) in ABCD (AnyBody Can Dance). ABCD will be the first 3D dance movie to premiere in India and is expected to be a big hit.
So, how is the whole transition to Bollywood dancing working out for Lauren Gottlieb? According to senior creative director Rucha Pathak, Lauren is a natural. “When we first saw Lauren in her Indian look, we didn’t recognise her at all! In the film, she’s sporting both Indian and Western looks and styles.” Pathak adds that costume designers have put a lot of time and effort in order to “portray Lauren in a completely new light and it has worked really well.”
The production staff for ABCD is not just impressed with Lauren’s Bollywood makeover. They also love her dancing. “We showcase several Indian dance forms in ABCD, and Lauren has done most of them. The ease with which she adapted to Indian dances has been brilliant.” Watching Lauren Gottlieb shine on the Bollywood screen should prove brilliant as well.
