How Did Paula Deen Lose 30 Pounds?

Ever since Paula Deen revealed her battle with type 2 diabetes earlier this year, she has been working very hard to get her health back. She has even lost 30 pounds since January. We’re guessing she hasn’t been eating any of the high-calorie Southern dishes she has created on the Food Network! Read on to find out how she lost weight.

Instead of eating fattening burgers, potatoes and doughnuts, Paula fills her shopping cart with broccoli, fruit and other healthy foods. “The architecture of my plate has changed,” Paula said. “I double up on greens — whether it’s salad or vegetables — and my carbs are just a spoonful.”

Although Paula eats a lot better now, she still allows herself to indulge once in awhile. She lets herself eat whatever she wants once a week so that she avoids feeling deprived. She also hasn’t completely given up her favorite food, fried chicken, which she now only eats once a month.

Paula also credits exercise for her weight loss. She walks 30 minutes every day but isn’t crazy about it. “I heard that exercise is addictive,” she said to People. “So far, it’s not like cigarettes.”

Her weight loss journey, however, is not over; the Southern chef wants to lose another 15 pounds. But she did admit to feeling a lot better about herself. “I have more energy. I sleep better. The weight loss has made my health issues better,” she said.

We’re glad to hear Paula is doing everything she can to improve her health. She certainly has a lot of willpower, considering she is around fattening food all the time. What do you all think about Paula’s weight loss? Are you proud of her for taking better care of herself?

    Well now that we all got fat on her wonderful cooking.( just kidding Paula it was our own choice to make what we eat.) Can she at least give us a day by day play on what she ate so we can still follow her…. She is a great!!!!! person and I love her food. and now we will all change so we can lose weight. So I hope and pray that she will have a TV spot on how to cook healthy and lose weight.. And Shame on all the other people for being mean… She got her wake up call and showed you all that she can do it and she will rise to the top. Maybe we should thank the mean people.. thank you. Now we have a wonderful Paula Deen. And I hope that she can show all of us how she did it step by step. and how she cooked it all. That is what I need a day by day plan to fellow what she ate each and every day you will find that that is what most people want a simple on what to buy how to cook it and what to eat for the day.. Come on Paula make us all Skinny!!!!! lov ya

    Hi Paula
    I sure would love to now what u ate. My sugar got up to 320 that is high. I am trying to walk here and there but i have RSD in my right foot. When i do start walking my back will hurt so bad and my foot is swelling more than normally. So if u can suggest something that will help me. That would be great. I have lost 6 lbs in two week, not that great. So pls help Thank-u lov ya

    i would like to know what you ate. i dont like walking neither. 100 over weight and tried everything. so if you can help me. I just love you.Your my idol. I hope one day i can meet you in texas .

    I HAVE DIABETES ALSO AND I HAVE LOST 23 LBS SINCE jUNE BY LESS CARBS,HOPE TO KEEP THE GOOD WORK BUT IT IS HARD.GOOD WORK pAULA,I FIGURE IF YOU CAN DO SO CAN I SO GOOD LUCK
