Casey Abrams was one of American Idol’s more impressive contestants last year, but unfortunately, he only came in 6th place. Now, the American Idol alum is following up his stint on reality TV with a self-titled debut album. Read more for the details!
In 2011, Casey Abrams was cut all too quickly from the pool of contestants on American Idol. But that certainly was not the end of his music career. The singer recently released his debut album, thus fulfilling his number one post-Idol goal.
Chatting with CBS News about the new album, Abrams said that he had no qualms about doing the entire thing his way. “I did the music that I exactly wanted to do — and the songs and the subject matter.” Abrams added that the music really couldn’t be pigeonholed into just one genre, but that together, the whole album fits his whole persona. “I’m just happy that my vibes have been translated onto a CD.”
In addition to including a great folky sound, Abrams covers some unique ground in his lyrics. “I wrote songs about shoes and mangoes.” Yep, that sounds a lot like the Casey Abrams American Idol fans remember! But not every song is about shoes or mangoes. The main subject matter? “It’s mostly about wanting girls to like me.” Somehow, it doesn’t seem like attracting the ladies should be much of a problem for Abrams, what with his laid-back vibe and now, his blossoming music career.
