We were all shocked when former Teen Mom star Amber Portwood chose a prison sentence over rehab, especially when she wanted to go into the military just days before. Now Amber is really paying the price because she isn’t allowed to see her baby girl, Leah, while she goes through the diagnostic process in jail. Read on to find out more.
As she goes through the two to three week diagnostic process, Amber’s emotional, medical, psychological and medical health will be examined to determine her permanent placement in the facility. “During this diagnostic process time, Amber is not allowed any visitors, including her baby daughter. However, she is allowed to make out-going phone calls,” Chief Communications Officer of the Indiana Department of Corrections told HollywoodLife.com.
Once the diagnostic process is finished, Amber will go to one of the three correctional facilities to serve her five year sentence. Amber’s ex, Gary Shirley, has full custody of Leah while she serves her sentence.
It’s truly a shame that Leah won’t have her mother around much during the next few years. A girl needs her mother, especially when she is as young as Leah. Amber definitely should have thought about her little girl before she chose a five year prison sentence over rehab. Hopefully, being in prison will change her for the better so that she can finally be a good mother to Leah.
Do you feel sorry for Amber’s situation? Do you think she will be a better mother when she gets out of prison? Share your thoughts with us!
