Jennifer Hudson certainly has been busy since her American Idol days. She has acted in the movie Dream Girls, lost 80 pounds on the Weight Watchers diet and even designed her own clothing line. The 30-year-old is now joining NBC’s music drama Smash and is very excited about it. But Jennifer also admitted that she’s quite intimidated by her new role. Read on to find out more.
“I’m going to be a Broadway star — this successful Broadway star, which is going to be a great experience,” Jennifer said. “It’s quite intimidating, but it will be a great experience and I’m so excited to get started, which I’ll be starting on that probably within the next week or so.”
Jennifer will play Veronica Moore, A Tony Award-winning Broadway star who influences the lives of Ivy (Broadway star Megan Hilty) and Karen (American Idol’s Katharine McPhee).
The Oscar winner will be shooting Smash on the East Coast. “Everything is New York based, so I’m a New Yorker this time around,” she said.
We can’t blame Jennifer for being a little nervous for this role, but she should not feel intimidated. She’s obviously proven how talented she is throughout the years, so acting on Smash will be a breeze for her. We’re definitely excited to see Jennifer’s terrific acting skills on the show.
