American Idol’s Scotty McCreery Offers Advice To Phillip Phillips

July 01, 2012 01:39 PM by Stephanie Gustafson

In the year since he was crowned champion on American Idol, Scotty McCreery has learned that life is not one big reality show. Now, McCreery’s busy passing on hard-won wisdom to his successor Phillip Phillips. What does Scotty McCreery have to say about post-Idol life? Read on for more!

Scotty McCreery may only be 18 years old, but he possesses an unusually mature attitude towards life. Fans appreciate the American Idol champ’s lack of cockiness and willingness to learn anything he can. That love of learning has been expressed, not only in McCreery’s interviews, but in his actions, which have included returning to high school to graduate and enrolling in college at North Carolina State University.

One year after his big American Idol victory, Scotty McCreery is now passing on valuable advice to Phillip Phillips, the season 11 winner. McCreery says that he suggested Phillips, “just go out there looking to learn and looking for people who can help you out.” McCreery also admits to being in the middle of that very process. “There’s a whole ’nother world out there – a huge business that I’m still learning about.”

Scotty McCreery’s attitude towards success is certainly refreshing. It’s one that a lot of other young celebrities could stand to learn from. It will be fun to watch him grow as he attends college and continues to pursue a career in music.
