The MasterChef home cooks will be working side-by-side with Graham Elliot as he demonstrates professional chef practices. The Mystery Box contains rabbit, forbidden rice, ginger and several more exotic ingredients.
When time expires, the judges choose three of the best dishes. Of course Graham’s looks amazing. Felix calls it art on a plate. The judges pick Frank who made Rabbit Two Ways with Vegetable Medley and Gooseberry Reduction. Gordon Ramsay said it looks and tastes amazing. Next they bring up Mike who made Leg of Rabbit with Forbidden Rice and Brussels Sprouts. Graham says Mike cooked the leg well and that’s the cut to do. The final plate is Becky’s with Braised Leg of Rabbit with Carrots, Mushrooms and Ramps. Joe calls it her lucky rabbit’s foot.
The judges decide the winning dish is Becky’s, so Becky gets to go to the pantry to decide on the Elimination Test. The theme is “tools of the trade” — a pizza stone, a wok and a deep fryer. Becky gets to chooses the deep fryer for herself. The other home cooks get the pizza stone.
They have 60 minutes to cook an amazing dish. Mike, for the life of him, doesn’t recall his pizza dough ingredients, so he decides to go with lobster. Is this a smart move? Monti burns her bread right at the end, but like we’ve all done at home, she shaves off the crusty parts of the bread and pulls her plate together at the last minute. As time runs out and they all rush to present their dishes.
Mike made Oven-Roasted Lobster with Vegetables and Rice. Graham says it looks dehydrated. Chef Ramsay calls it his worst performance. Becky made Shrimp Tempura with Curry sauce and Yuca Chips. Chef Ramsay says it’s delicious. Christine made Indian Flatbread with Chicken and Fried Egg. Graham says it’s well done. Monti made Roasted Carrot Soup with Irish Soda Bread. Joe says he’d eat the whole bowl on a rainy day. David made Smoked Lobster with Oven-Roasted Potatoes and Bacon. Joe throws it in the trash. Tali made Three Cheese Pizza with Duck Breast and Crème Fraiche Sauce. Chef Ramsay says it’s a mess. Finally, Tanya is up with Lamb Cutlets with Olive Flatbread and Roasted Garlic Yogurt. Joe spits it out and calls it personally offensive.
The judges announce that Monti will be a team captain next week. She is safe. The three worst dishes of the night are Tanya, David and Mike. Mike steps forward and he is finished. But wait…there’s more…
Chef Ramsay also tells Tanya that her time is over. David is safe — for now. Stay tuned next week for more MasterChef action.
