Dancing With The Stars’ Gilles Marini: American In Time For The 4th!

July 05, 2012 10:00 AM by Stephanie Gustafson

What better way to celebrate the 4th of July than with a shiny new American citizenship? That’s right, Dancing with the Stars alum Gilles Marini is now a citizen of the United States! Keep reading to find out why Gilles Marini is excited to be an American.

He captured hearts all across America as a smooth-moving contestant on Dancing with the Stars, and now, finally, Gilles Marini is an American as well! The Switched At Birth heartthrob received his United States citizenship on June 27th, just in time to celebrate Independence day.

Gilles Marini shared his excitement with People, saying, “I’m a very happy camper…I cried about becoming an American. It’s inexplicable the love I have for this country. I’m on cloud nine and I can’t get down.”

Now that Marini is an American, he feels that there are a few stereotypical American activities he needs to get out of the way. He’s especially looking forward to having burgers at In & Out, a fast food joint he describes as “a good example of a true 1950s American meal.” Marini will also need to take a stab at one of America’s favorite desserts. “I haven’t had any apple pie yet, but I think I will.”

It’s great to see Gilles Marini so excited about being an American citizen! But the next big question for Marini is, will he join the Dancing with the Stars all-star cast? Keep your fingers crossed!
